i've been off work since dec. 18. it designed that way so i could recuperate from the craziness that happens there the first 2 weeks of each december. and i didn't want to have to go to work 1 maybe 2 days a week. i'd rather go for at least 4 or none at all.
well, it turns out i'm off next week as well. and i honestly don't know WHAT to think about that. i knew we'd be slow, but i've never been off for that long. on the one hand, i do have a few bills to pay (not many), so i could use the money. but on the other hand, i'm not overly excited about the job as i often get bored while i'm there. so being off for a while isn't a terrible thing. i guess it was fortuitous that my best friend asked me this past sunday if i'd like to help him sometimes when he does some videography work. he has a really nice setup with a 4k camera, floor-standing camera boom, boom mic, torpedo mic, etc. |

Good riddance, 2015. You were one of the worst years ever.

Just thinking about how arbitrary New Year's is and how I will probably be in bed by 11 PM. Even if I weren't tired, doubt I'd stay up for it. Nights like this, I am glad I have terrible hearing, should help me sleep through all the fireworks.

I'm not crazy about the upcoming year, either, my friend. I also know what it feels like to have so much personal stuff get you down, and how you just need to step away and isolate yourself from everyone and everything to recover and just... heal a bit, I suppose. It'll certainly suck to not see you around here for a while, but the most important thing is that you do what's best for you. I also hope you know that I'm here to listen to anything you'd ever want to share. If you just want to vent, if I can do anything to help, or even if you just want to talk about random stuff like what you ate for lunch, I'm here. You've been someone I look forward to interacting with all the time, and someone that I am honored to know and call a friend. Shoot me a PM if you'd like my e-mail address, too. I think JLF has it, too, but I'm not sure. Either way, if you do leave, please stop by before you go, and then we'll all eagerly await your return. Stay awesome, Dan!

Please forgive me for this post. Hopefully it can have even the tiniest of impact, though, for those of you struggling with whatever there is that's negative in your life.
It just turned 2016 where I am, which means that one of the worst years of my life is now over! Even though in the grand scheme of things, it's just another day, I'm still doing all I can to treat the New Year as a fresh start. It really is saying something, for the few of you that know more details, when I say that 2015 was one of the worst years of my life. Several horrible people tried to destroy me and harm me beyond repair... figuratively and (scarily) literally. I've also dealt with many personal battles in my life that I've had varying degrees of success in overcoming. I spent many a night in a hospital bed thinking, "This is it. This is finally what will break me and this is going to be where my final moments are going to be. You've been through hell and back so many times, yet you can only cheat death so many times. So many monsters in your lifetime have made it their sick, twisted mission to end you and destroy you. You've been given a bum deal in life and so many things to overcome even from your first day on the planet. No matter how much love and happiness you want to spread, no matter how many you helped (even if they showed later that they didn't deserve it and were just abusing and using you), no matter how much you've done just to make others' lives even just a tiny bit better, you only have so much strength. Even if you aren't treated like one by most people you meet, you're just a human being... and a human being can only handle so much. And hey, if this is the end, at least it means you can finally have some peace." 1... 2... Much like the wrestling I've loved all my life (and love talking about with some wonderful people here I am proud to call my friends), when I thought things were over, I kicked out at the very last moment. You know what helped me kick out, besides whatever is inside me that has somehow kept me alive and kicking? This community here. Earlier in the year, when I made it through a life-threatening episode brought on by disgusting, loathsome people I wish I never crossed paths with, I took a chance in returning to these forums. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and honestly this place, and especially certain people here, have saved my life. Literally. These people are truly rays of light in the darkness, sanctuary from the storms of a harsh life and world. I hope those of you I'm speaking about know who you are. You mean more to me, and more to many others, I'm sure, than you could ever realize. This place is more than just a place to talk about Blu-Rays and various things. This is a community. There's been some bad along with the good, but if you're fortunate, you'll meet some wonderful people here. Because of this place and those people, Eternal Dreamer is still here in 2016. With the various hardships and pains I deal with on a daily basis, many of which worsen over time and there are no cures for (literally and figuratively), I might not make it to 2017. Honestly, with all I've been through, I'm surprised I'm still here every year that the clock strikes midnight and the newest year begins. And if I'm not here next year ringing in a New Year with all you fantastic folks, know that at least you made this one not-so-special person feel welcomed and feel like a person. You've made my life a lot better, and I probably wouldn't be here without all of you and your kindness and friendship. "Eternal Dreamer" comes from a fire that burns within me. All I've ever dreamed of, all my life, has been to help others and make others happy however I can. It's a dream that's been quieted at times and nearly crushed to death, but no matter how bleak times are and how close to the end I may be, it's a fire that still burns and has never been extinguished. It's a fire I don't think will ever be extinguished, no matter how horrible life can be and no matter how many terrible people may weave in and out of my life. Thank you all for keeping the fire burning in me. I can only hope that at least once during my time here, I've brought something positive to the table, no matter how brief or small. And in regards to all the horrible people who may be in your lives and cause you great pain, remember this quote from Katz from the movie A Walk in the Woods (now available on Blu-Ray; it's a great movie, so check it out!): "(F-word)ers still haven't got me!" May this year be much better than the last one for all of you, and may your lives be filled with nothing but happiness, love, and all the beautiful stuff life has to offer. If I can make it through my life and I'm still here, I know you all can, too! YEAOH!!!! ![]() |

I'm sorry 2015 was so hard for some of you. For me, 2015 was probably the biggest and most life-changing year of my life. It was filled with extreme highs and terrible lows, but I can look back and say I'm so happy for every moment. I only know this crazy roller coaster called life will only get more wild in 2016.
Happy 2016 everyone <3 |

My fortune cookie had no fortune in it. I think that's a bad sign.

To be fair, sometimes refs do cost teams games and it's over small stuff. Not every game, but it does happen a little frequently lately. Even the NBA this year has had to address certain games due to bad officiating. |

While I don't believe leagues conspire with refs, I do feel there are refs out there who will change outcomes intentionally for their own favor (whether that's a gambling problem or just a personal issue against a player/team). Tim Donaghy was just proof that biased officials do exist, even at big stages. Usually, where there's smoke, there's fire. |
