Yeah except we're in an apt building so we don't really have much of a backyard. Oh and finding time for something like that will be difficult as our summers are usually crazy busy! Kid's in sports, I'll be crazy busy with work, and this year I want to take the kid camping more (she loves the outdoors but arranging a free weekend is hard AF with our schedules). We've got 2 reunions to go to in August, which I'm desperately trying to turn into camping weekends.

yeah i can see where that might cause some issues regarding time.

i'm not married and don't have any kids, so i tend to think of things that way. i have time to do whatever so that's the way my brain thinks, lol. i automatically assume everybody else has that much time, too.

That’s odd. No one I know has ever had a housewarming for an apartment. My brother had one when he finally moved out of an apartment and into his own house.

I tend to call them "move-in" parties more than housewarmings but whatever. We've been to many friends' move-in parties over the years, never had one in the last place we were in but really it was just a studio apt so nothing special. Really with our schedules this place is just a crash pad so to speak, we both practically live at our jobs, and the kid is at school most of the time (6 hour school day + after school clubs/activities, then practice/games/solo training at the school on the weekends).

I’ve seen it on a couple of different "reality" TV shows that take place in the south — Louisiana and Texas, to be specific — in which that happened.
