I settled for the Zavvi steelbook edition for now as it's too difficult to import the Best Buy version to Europe.
It was £90 and there are bound to be more made available but will again sell out quickly.

Any idea when we might be able to change our fake (I mean "alternate") US addresses to our real ones for those in the US who pre-ordered from Amazon.uk?

I just upgraded to 4K UHD (though no TV yet) and decided to cancel my remastered standard Blu-ray set and put in a pre order for this set, especially since it was just like $5 more expensive on Amazon from what I had paid at Best Buy for the standard Blu-ray set. Especially since it's confirmed the 4K discs will have all the extras on them(excluding the photo galleries and what's on the bonus disc). However, I'm still going to put my 4K discs in my 6 disc 25th anniversary set instead of keeping them in this crap sleeve packaging.

I just watched the first movie on VHS today, yeah that's right I still have it in mint condition. I can honestly say that the original stereo track on the VHS still sounds better than the current BD version I own by far. While the BD version offers better sound quality, the 5.1 mix is so lackluster. The VHS version on the other hand has a far better mix, better dynamic range, and just outright punchier sound.

The best example for great dynamic range is the final scene where the lightning strikes the clock, the moment the lightning strikes it just gets crazy loud like it was right in front of you. On the BD, it just sounds dead flat with all the dynamic range gone. Now the scene where Marty plays "Johnny B. Goode" once again the dynamic range kicks off strong with a livelier sound and a punchier bass that the BD 5.1 mix couldn't match at all. Then throughout the movie the parts where the DeLorean kicks into full gear, all the sound effects are simply mixed better.

I'm hoping that this new release has the original stereo mix in it and not simply a downmixed from a 5.1 source.

Are you daring to suggest that Oscar-winning sound technicians know better than the interns who work in Universal's remix department? Why... why, I simply don't believe it! It can't be true! It's simply can't.

Wait so the remix was done by interns (amateurs) and not the original guys that mixed the stereo track?

2 weeks from release date or so. If the trilogy is back in stock at that time, you can keep checking its page and see when it can be shipped internationally then change address for your order. If it isn't in stock then you'll just have to try changing the address.

In my case, with the Amazon UK exclusive of GOODFELLAS, it was a mere four days.

The original sound mixers/designers rarely get to rework their existing tracks. It does happen occasionally, but most of the time it's just the in-house people at whatever mixing studio who handle these things, e.g. https://postperspective.com/bringing...e-via-blu-ray/

Ron Cobb, Designer of the 'Alien' Ship and the 'Back to the Future' DeLorean, Dies at 83

Quote:
Ron Cobb, the underground cartoonist turned production designer who influenced the making of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and helped shape the worlds of Conan the Barbarian, Alien and Back to the Future, has died. He was 83.

Cobb died Monday — his birthday — of Lewy body dementia in Sydney, his wife of 48 years, Robin Love, reported.

Cobb brought to life several cantina creatures for Star Wars (1977) and came up with weaponry and sets for Conan the Barbarian (1982), the exterior and interior of the Nostromo ship in Alien (1978) and the earth colony complex in Aliens (1986) and the DeLorean time machine in Back to the Future (1985).

His prolific design work also included the breathing tanks and helmets in The Abyss (1989), the Omega Sector logo and the H bombs in True Lies (1990), the interior of the Mothership and the stranded tanker in Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) and the vehicles of The Last Starfighter (1984).

I don’t know which version of Back to the Future you watched, but my copy doesn’t have the clock tower sequence as the final scene...

Maybe he cuts it off early because he hates the ending.

Perhaps it’s really Crispin Glover behind the keyboard...

Maybe he's more of an Elisabeth Shue fan.
