I knew they'd use Do Not Resuscitate. That's why I'm glad I o ly paid 10. No way in hell I'd pay anywhere near full price for it!

You are obsessed with this release being a total disaster!

Why don’t you just wait for the release and then make a statement?

Maybe because the last 2-3 times on previous formats it HAD been a disaster?

Are you referring to parts 2 and 3? If yes, it certainly has much lesser grain than 1 but someone here said its shot on a different film stock which has super thin grain. If this is true then I would say 2 and 3 are not DNR'ed. If this isn't they are DNR'ed but Goonies style.

Does not compute. Before it was released in a glorious 4K, Predator HAD been a disaster on Ultimate Hunter Edition Blu-Ray.

Around 1990 there was a change to T-grain stock instead of spherical grain stock. Effectively this makes the film much more efficient with regards to light and has much less visible grain. However even the T-grain stock would still have visible grain throughout so it shouldn't be invisible but much less than you would see in BTTF part 1 especially during the interior shots.

Some modern stock like slow Kodak Vision3 50 ISO daylight film has such fine grain that some cinematographers say it looks almost too clean to the point of looking like video, but that's definitely not the case when looking at a movie shot 30 years ago.

Attached some pictures from my crappy cell phone camera.

You can see that mild yellow tint on the part 3 cap and none of it on the part 1 cap.

I used some Bullmoose site points to pre-order this Back to the Future 4K set and the Daughters of Darkness 4K both for half price.

I have said numerous times. Part 1 has grain. To me it looks the best of the bunch because Part 2 and Part 3 have less of it like Goonies. My concern was Part 3 which has this mild golden yellow tint. I have no idea if its meant to look like that. I will double check again tonight. Sold my BD trilogy already, so I can only compare against Amazon or Netflix HD streams.

I might buy the disc when the price drops to under a tenner each and if the discs are way superior which I doubt will be.
I presume most folks here have spent a good penny on their gear so superiority is what we are after. And streaming ain’t it.

A lot of films with Special Effects shot in the late 70s up to the early 90s has a lot of optical effects in them plus opticals have a lot of dirt build up in them. Could that be the reasons a lot of those films on 4K UHD Blu-Ray have some DNR in them who knows but in the days before digital effects opticals where a pain in the you know what to film and print in the photochemical days and very problematic.

Amazon's having issues lately. My last 2-3 preorders have not arrived on release date. Granted, with everything going on, it's understandable. But I don't see Amazon jumping to make up for it by reducing the yearly Prime membership fee or giving credits toward future purchases either.

I would order from BB if it it was the same price as everyone else. I know it'll work itself out but still.

Too close for Comfort, and surprised I was able to get to get it this late. But I just locked in the Steelbook set, Feck the Digibook nonsense(seriously, WHO thought of it??). I had applied $15 in my earned Certificates to lower the price a bit. Hopefully Best Buy pulls through and not cancel this on me.

Horrible review. Doesn't have a clue what a film from that period looks like. Only values the visual fidelity of bright daytime shots.
