This is a pretty good example of what was so wrong with the BD release:
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...151970&i=9&l=0

The UHD looks lightyears more natural. Can't wait to finally enjoy watching these (Original and Part 3) again.

The detail change on the blinds is hilarious, the BD looks like solid blinds, the UHD shows they're actually slats crazy improvement almost like a DVD vs Blu Ray improvement of some other movie

Yes, with the current schedule, but we can trust that Zavvi will have separate releases with original artwork eventually.

At this point in my collection I'm happy enough with box sets! Even if they're just separate cases in flimsy cardboard.

An overly sharpened 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gen copy would look much more grainer when sharpness is cranked to the max. This looks to me like an extremely well exposed negative and these results look pretty amazing.
I can’t agree more. I wish somebody at Universal could chime in and give us a definitive answer if, and how much DNR was used. That would put a lot of wondering minds to rest

this is an easy pass for me.

There are instances where some shots are better but this is kind of a letdown.

Was hoping the first film would have better/ more grain and look more like film.
Wondering if you got a 4K HDR TV?

Best this has looked. You are worrying over a storm in a teacup.

Ok, I am no expert, but to my untrained eye Gremlins and BTTF Part I filmed a year apart have a lot in common grain-wise and color-wise. Even if it’s just me, I love both transfers. But I also find E.T. transfer absolutely fantastic, but a lot of people say it was grain managed. Sometimes I do wonder how do they know exactly? I mean, you can see what a bleeding disaster were T2 and Forrest Gump, where DNR is just so obvious. But how can you tell in cases like this?

There are subtle details which appear blown out in some of the screenshots from the original Blu-ray editions. The new 4K discs look much better from the comparisons.

I'd have liked to see some of the electric effects in the new captures of the new discs, hopefully there's some nice range to them.

I think there is some mild DNR in some shots but above all this is a MASSIVE upgrade

Poor California Raisins paid $50,000 for that bench advertisment BTW.

Already seeing new details, like being able to read the labels on the Laserdiscs.

One of them says "Physical". Pretty sure it's this one:

This is a significant upgrade. The Blu-ray is Pamela Anderson post plastic surgery, the 4K is Pam Anderson before the atrocity occurred.

I’m fixated on it being in my postbox tomorrow. I can’t get Silvestri’s theme out of my head. It’s a special kind of anticipation, reserved only for the holy grail kind of movies, of which this trilogy is to me. Drink it in folks, as the feeling doesn’t come around that often.

This is heavy.
