I do not remember the how it sounds with say the VHS stereo track.

Checking against the Spanish and French 5.1 DTS tracks the Spanish version sounds like the old BR 5.1 DTSMA mix but the French does not have that extra oomph.

So perhaps the Atmos mix is more correct to the original mix in that regard but the top end at least on my system is more pronounced.

I'll try to give the rest of the film and sequels a listen later in the week or so.
I tend to not be a fan of the audio in Dolby Cinemas since they seem to always overcook the treble and do weird things to the balance at times. Not sure if the harsh treble is their messing with the mix or the types of speakers they tend to use.

Watched the first film tonight and thought it looked and sounded great. It certainly makes the old BD look like trash.

YMMV. I've bought around a dozen used 4K discs from Redbox, where I'm sure they are mistreated, and they all play wonderfully.

Just had the same issue with the first film a little smudge and the whole film goes out of whack when Marty meets his mother’s family.

Yeah, mine got cancelled/refunded (Ebay). I sort of wish I had made a second order from Gruv now as a back-up. Oh well, at least a lot of other people are getting their orders, so that's good.

I have an LG OLED and this is absolutely not true for my TV. 10 actually adds some edge enhancement, and >10 adds traditional sharpening. 0 = no altering whatsoever. I suppose it's possibly different on your LED (though I doubt it).
it's weird though that even filmaker mode still has sharpening defaulted to 10
hard to find solid claims, especially for any particular LG model, some insist 10 is off and less is filtering, some insist 0 is off and any more is a trace sharpening and you get different stories for different models too

Man that sucks, you guys just ordered one set right? I wonder how they made the decisions to cancel and go ahead and fulfill.

Not sure. Maybe I ordered too late in the "offer" (so the stock wasn't there to fulfill mine)? I mostly sell on Ebay, so maybe they checked that first and cancelled because of that (assuming I would only resell)? Or maybe I just got unlucky. But it's okay, it was worth trying (and I think things will work out).

Plus the 4K BTTF movies are on triple-layer BD-100 discs, which are probably even more sensitive to imperfections than the usual dual-layer BD-66 discs.

Seems I recall years ago something about Part 3 having something digitally erased or something by accident on the blu-ray. Is that an issue on this new 4K set? I forget the details.

Yea, I went down this rabbit-hole long ago and I found some trusted folks from another forum who tested this thoroughly and say that 0 is absolutely the neutral setting.

There are certainly tons of differing opinions out there if you Google it, but between these forum members who extensively test patterns, and reputable sites like Rtings supporting the 0 setting... I trust this over the fact that LG deems 10 to be their default setting. Not to mention that to my eye the 10 setting does look artificially enhanced in certain scenarios.

That sounds like some kind of filtering/DNR thing, so probably not an issue on the UHD. Same thing happened with the earliest BDs of Total Recall and Universal Soldier to name two other well-publicized examples. Filtering mistaking things like sparks and bullet casings for dirt and damage.

I believe you're right because if I recall correctly, BTTF 3 had sparks or something like that erased by accident on the older blu-ray. The 4K is miles better quality and a ton less digital tinkering and so I also would assume no erased instances.

It's two days later than I wanted but I got my boxset today Wednesday October 21st, 2020;

5 years to the day of Wednesday October 21st, 2015. Oh the small things can be so sweet. Looking through each movie now and so far it looks impressive!

I have to say, this box set looks fantastic. I have some reservations on the Photoshopped character collage but the color and glossy finish in hand makes this thing look so goregous.
