Excellent! Thank you!

Why have other people been saying that's not the case?

Were they just talking rubbish?

I think it was the new BD set (which was supposed to be remastered) which wound up just being the old discs.

Ah right... So the UHD set has the remastered discs whilst the BD only set doesn't?

By the way, those VistaGlide shots finally look good and filmic! Albeit softer than the rest, due to being optical composites and some generations away from the negative. But the old BluRay really sucked in those shots, as the whole "DNR+resharpen" process did not work with those shots at all. As a result they used to stick out like a sore thumb.
The VG composites look as good as they realistically could in Part III but they've been hammered with DNR in Part II...except for Biff talking to Biff in the garage, which looks so pristine it almost looks like camera original. Taken on a holistic level then of coursh these massacre the grotty old 2010 Blus, what I don't get is why some of the opticals were left alone but some were given 'the treatment. Eh, Universal gonna Universal, I'm still very thankful that I can bin those old Blus at long, long last.

As far as I know, but don't take my word for it! I haven't actually sampled the new BDs myself.

I decided to rewatch the first two and re-evaluate all three. Perhaps the first isn't as bad as my initial impressions. It's not perfect by any means but it's for the most part alright. I guess I'll stop being critical of this one.The third also looks alright, and I'd say the best of the set when it comes to image quality. They aren't by any means ugly. Now the second film, that one looks weird to me. That one doesn't look so organic to me - has a processed looked to it. I'm guessing that since this one has a lot of effects shots to it, perhaps they processed the entire thing to make it look more consistent. So instead of a film-like appearance, you get slightly pasty/noise reduced and almost what I would describe as an analog video looking texture to it. I don't think it is just due to optical effects. The motion looks mildly odd.

Just finish watching Part III (I concluded the trilogy in 24 hours and it was an amazing experience in UHD) Top notch transfer plus I really like the movie too.

The new UK 1080p BTTF set was supposed to have remastered discs. There was a screw-up and it had reprints of the old discs inside. A replacement disc scheme was set up by Universal UK (I contacted them and received the correct remastered discs yesterday). Full information is in the BTTF thread in the UK forum section. So it is possible to get the remastered blu-rays for just fifteen pounds but unfortunately you do have to jump through some hoops.

My ranking of the Back to the Future films:

1. Back to the Future
2. Back to the Future Part III
3. Back to the Future Part II

Part II has grown on me over the years, but Part III edges it out since it actually has a legit ending.

Part II has a legit ending for a trilogy. It’s the middle chapter of a three-act play, which usually is supposed to create anticipation for the third part.

Just wondering if anyone’s ever tried this. If this would help protect the discs I’d be less nervous about purchasing the set.

They generally don't, you can get some sleeves to fit the slots, but they glue the pages/cardboard to match the shape. So the square sleeve corners have nowhere to go.

'BACK TO THE FUTURE' - UK - 4K UHD SET question?

Is the UK 4K UHD Box Set the same as the U.S. release? I've heard reports that the blurays included in the UK set are NOT the new remastered ones? Is that true does anyone know? Thank you.

Remember how the UK DVDs of Buffy first came in those 'book' type packages? Geoffyridge Farm remembers. I hated the digisleeves so much that I did exactly this, I widened the slots (oo-er missus etc) so that they would fit the discs in them little protective CD slips. Man, I been hating this type o' packaging for like 20 years already
