I finally got around to watching the 4K disc of the first movie. Planned on getting around to it earlier, but was caught up with some horror movies for Halloween and had to rewatch the Bond movies after Connery's passing.

I've mostly stayed out of this thread since I received my copy, since I wanted to see these for myself. So I'll probably just end up repeating what others have said. It was fun to watch this again. Haven't revisited the first movie since the travesty of that original Blu-ray. It's definitely a favorite of mine and I've loved it longer than many of my other favorites (I saw BTTF before Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc). So it's easy to ignore some of the transfer's issues when you get caught up in the magic of the movie. Overall, it's the best it's looked. It still doesn't look as good as it could have. More or less what the old 2010 Blu-ray should've been, but not quite up to today's standards for 4K remasters. I thought the grain looked kinda odd and clumpy in texture, but it wasn't so bad.

I hit that section that I saw Geoff D describe as a chroma error. Basically looks reminiscent of an old VHS - soft, and the image/grain has a sort of horizontal brushed over look to it. During the scene where George punches Biff, there are a few close-ups of Crispin Glover that are pretty good @ 01:22:59 & 1:23:01. But when we cut back to this shot @ 01:23:04, it's back to that soft horizontal waviness.

Well, I'm finally watching my copy of the first film... and yep. it's freezing a ton once you get to minute 48 during the Baines' dinner all the way through Doc's house when they talk about the 1.21 gigawatts.

So, I dunno... I suppose I call Gruv and ask for a replacement

I got my order from the ebay store quite a bit ago but I was very happy to find out two of my best friends received theirs today from the actual GRUV website.

Was going to say the same. Better than what most countries got, but still NOT the classic posters.

Received my Gruv.com order yesterday and watched all three movies.

The first film was the only one with any repeatable freezing, off and on from 48:30 to 55:00.

Watched Parts II and III, and they look pretty great overall, aside from some of the soft optical shots. Pleasantly surprised by how good they are considering the first film's transfer issn't particularly strong.

Watched the Blu Ray from my Gruv 4k order tonight. It looks so much better than the old Blu Ray release. One day when I have a UHD player I’ll check out the 4k.

Mine froze on Part I at the 48 min mark, but Parts II & III played fine.

Since so many Part I discs are affected, any chance of a trade in program?

Not sure if this has been posted, but just noticed the standard 4k set is $30.99 on Amazon right now.

Woo, that price drop hit at the perfect time. I had a $15 Amazon promotional credit for buying a $50 gift card that hit my account yesterday, so it went to good use on this. Excited to revisit the trilogy over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend!

(Promotional credit takes a day or two to arrive, FYI.)

Does anybody know from where Amazon is matching the $30.99 price?

~$10/movie -- this is what I was waiting for, so I jumped. Plus $1 digital credit for no-rush shipping.

I was wondering this as well. I figured it would be a lightning deal but this works too.

Boom, glad I waited. Hopefully it doesn't sink anymore during Black Friday.

That's what I'm concerned about. Amazon has gotten me in the past. You bite during the first initial sales and feel all like this....

and then when the real deals come you feel the burn. So I wonder about all of these $10 titles dropping...could they go lower?

I'm not too sure about BTTF though...but I feel the time is now.

That $30.99 deal sure didn't last long. I missed it.
