I will finally relent and buy this on home video again, but not the CE or the steelbooks. I'll just buy the standard 40th Anniversary Edition instead. Last time I owned this on home video was the 2002 DVD set. Loved that set.

I'd double dip if they included the scenes with Stoltz.

Glad I never got around to buying this. I may finally pull the trigger. I'm pretty shocked how many times they have repackaged these movies though. They must be huge sellers.

I don’t know about a standard-sized Steelbook that holds 8 discs, though…

Honestly, I wish I could only get the first one. I'm not a fan of 2 and 3.

Agreed, biggest reason I’m not pre ordering this one. I’ll take the individual slip boxes

I can see the Indy movies will be doing the same for their 50th anniversary.
I wouldn't complain if we finally got Blu-ray bonus discs for each Indy movie since they sadly left some on the DVDs for the first 3 and the original 2 disc set for the 4th one. If they re-released the 5th one they could chuck in the Harrison Ford doco from Disney+.

Would be surprised if it happens though. Indy is Lucasfilm and for the first 4, Paramount. Jaws and Back to the Future are Universal.

Probably not gonna happen. But it sure would be nice if Universal finally fixed the drop in resolution when Marty enters Hill Valley in 1955. Because its insane how many times theyve reissued it and refuse to fix that freaking error that is so obvious. As well as some of color issues during the enchantment under the sea dance.

This won't factor into my decision, but you have to admire the laziness of printing the "Save the Clock Tower" flyer on white paper! Would it have really been that difficult for them to print it on light blue paper?

I know there are some flyers in the background in BTTF that are printed on both white and yellow paper, but Marty's flyer is blue, dammit!

8 discs crammed into what looks like a standard steelbook scares me

That steelbook will definitely have stacked discs.

Yup, LG did it with the Hunger Games series two years ago. Outside of that I don't think there are other examples of 8 discs crammed into a regular steelbook.

Physical media dying? LMAO. I had to make a list, on pen and paper, of all my preorders so I wouldn't buy the same release twice. Every time I get a shipping notification, I've already preordered a bunch of new stuff. It's never ending!

I preordered all three individual boxes. It's going to set me back about $240 altogether but I don't care. It's BTTF. For some reason Amazon UK wouldn't let me order all three at the same time so I had to pay shipping 3 times. If anyone knows a workaround for that please share.

I already own the 35th Anniversary set, and I will admit I originally had the first release with the digibook packaging, but a year or so ago I rebought the reissue with the keepcases because I was concerned about the conditions of the discs with the first release.

Now that a 40th anniversary set is coming out, I'm stuck with figuring out whether I should triple-dip or not. On the one hand, I am not really an extra features guy, I really only care about the movies, so I probably would not be missing out on much, especially if the video/audio for this set is identical to the 35th anniversary set. But at the same time, I am somewhat of a completionist, so I feel like if I don't have this set, I would be missing out on something.

I know Universal is not going to do this, but I would love if they somehow offered the 2nd bonus disc on its own for those who don't want to repurchase the films again. That would save a lot of money in the long run and I would rather do that than repurchase all the films again for a third time just for one new disc.

If that’s what it is, I’ll cancel.

One of my biggest pet peeves is stacked discs!

I was unaware. Carry on. I would have expected to see it more heavily advertised but it's possible I missed it and my memory sucks.
