Any time someone is recast I consider it a detriment but I don't let it bother me too much. The only time I was floored negatively by a recast was when they replaced A. Michael Baldwin with James LeGros in Phantasm II.

Am I seeing things or did the price of the 4K set shoot up to $69 on Amazon? I preordered when it hit $42 so I'm glad I got in on that price.

The price still reads $42.99 on my screen.

Yes! I finally got my SteelBook pre-order (BB Canada).
Someone seems to have canceled his pre-order as after I placed mine, it's sold out again!

My 25th Anniversary edition can go to the trash now LOL.

^ Indeed. James LeGros was not only a terrible actor but looked nothing like Baldwin. I still like Phantasm 2 a lot though.

Changing Saavik in Star Trek III is one where the change was more noticeable IMO. Robin Curtis was good in her own way though, and makes it her own, so it doesn't really hurt the movie. But maybe they could have made her a separate Vulcan character.
[Show spoiler]They did do that eventually in VI with Valeris, but that movie, great as it is, would have been even better with either Saavik. Would have been a big shock for her to turn on them!
. That wouldn't be possible in Back to the Future of course and have Jennifer suddenly not in the car anymore. Lol.

Hated that Christopher Lambert was replaced in Mortal Kombat Annihilation! Not that he could have saved it. Lol. But still. Considering he was the best part of the first movie IMO, and his attitude, he was very missed.

I keep nearly ALL of my discs in sleeves (in albums). I keep being told I'm going to scratch discs, but it still hasn't happened (not once).

So why use them?
Cost of goods, probably.

Until they prove to be an actual problem, they are going to use what is cheaper to manufacture.

As if it’s so hard to play a girlfriend, y’all are so weird with these assessments about acting or recasting.

Not weird at all. Lesser acting is lesser acting. If you can't see it... I'm sorry. Shue played "the girlfriend" as kind of an airhead, when the original actress played her normally. It may have been down to bad direction on Zemeckis' part, so I'm not necessarily blaming Shue completely.

I hate the fact the Germans always translate and dub everything. I grew up in Europe and almost all and any TV show/movie on German television was dubbed by German voice actors.

Hearing Arnold as the Terminator - dubbed by a high-pitch German voice actor - saying "Ich werde zuruck kommen" was the dumbest thing I ever heard.

And the same with the packaging, as the screenshots in this post show.

Zuruck in die Zukunft ... what a disservice to these movies.

For those who were debating between the BestBuy steel books and the regular Target version like I was.
I preordered the steel books, and today asked if BestBuy could price match and they said yes!
They refunded me $25.68.
Didn't think they would but took a chance and asked given the difference.
So really pleased I can get the better artwork for a similar price!

Actually, the German logo is probably the best adaptation of the original English design: it has the same CK<== arrow combo as in the English one. Other languages were not so lucky in this matter.

Though I rather dislike this incarnation of it (which has a more pronounced front edge. Like the current English one, but it looks worse on the German logo, as the words are longer and the last letters become hardly legible).

The classic German logo was way better:

I just tried that and they couldn’t do it because it’s not released yet. They said after it’s released they can price match. I wish I got the same person you did.

Definitely prefer Wells as Jennifer. It's too bad she couldn't reprise it.

I had always liked this international poster (Thailand?) because it reminded me of something from the 60s but couldn't understand how they got Marty's face so wrong:

Wow that’s awesome for you but I cannot see many being successful with this as it’s a different sku that’s normally more expensive than the standard edition. I can see them price matching the standard edition obviously but since the steels are exclusive to them I’m surprised they were able to do that since they are price matching an edition they also offer.

At best I’d imagine anyone could ask for the $13 difference between their price for the standard and others meaning presumingly if they put their standard on sale for the $42 then the steels would drop in price but stay $15 more than the standard. Just a thought.
