Zuruck in die Zukunft ... what a disservice to these movies.
I try to avoid German releases because of the translated titles alone but I had to get some steelbooks and always find it funny when "The" is "Die" in German titles.

The reason why I won't order the set with sleeves regardless of price is it's not only worrying about how they will arrive, and if they are okay when I take them out the first time, it's the fact that I will not store them in there and repeatedly take them in and out over and over, so that means I have a new headache trying to figure out where to store them. Buy more cases? I don't have a printer so what will I do about artwork? I had to deal with that issue for Lost on Space and that series is still sitting in new cases with no artwork, because I won't put them back in the sleeves.

Also, not all of those "many people" actually experienced scratched discs — they're just afraid it might happen.

I keep nearly ALL of my discs in sleeves (in albums). I keep being told I'm going to scratch discs, but it still hasn't happened (not once).

Cost of goods, probably.

Until they prove to be an actual problem, they are going to use what is cheaper to manufacture.

Chris
And yet my Wonder Woman blu-ray box set just arrived with 10-discs inside a normal plastic multi-disc blu-ray case. Funny how some companies manage to use regular cases and not go bankrupt.

Don't know if it's been discussed in this long threat, but will this trilogy release be the same around the world, as far as the discs are concerned?

Steelbooks and hoverboard aside, are all countries getting the same content?

At best I’d imagine anyone could ask for the $13 difference between their price for the standard and others meaning presumingly if they put their standard on sale for the $42 then the steels would drop in price but stay $15 more than the standard. Just a thought.
It’s the luck of the draw. Years ago I pre-ordered the non-steelbook Thor: Ragnarok for store pickup and when I picked it up they handed me the steelbook.

Yeah I agree. I already have the BD steelbook too. I understand wanting this new series of steelbooks but this set is a prime candidate for a $20-25 Black Friday sale. That's only three months away.

Yeah it's not even impressive as a desktop decoration really.

I'd be more interested in something that was larger scale though.

If it's the same thing I see on Youtube videos, it is an impressive desktop decoration. It's the latest style in a line of these. This one hovers higher than older ones did. It sells from the manufacturer's site for $34.99 (currently on sale for $24.99). So you could just buy the cheapest 4k set and buy the board separately.

Oh god yes!

I'm half German and whenever I'm over there and I hear the dubbing of English speaking films, it makes my ears bleed.

Each movie in its own case with slip (at least in US and CA) plus a very nicely designed box. So much better than any kind of sleeve packaging. If only Universal got that message.

Because the Columbia set is everything about a collector's set done right. Individual slipcases with art and slipcovers that are housed inside are larger, unfolding shell that both protects and presents the movies properly. We just be reinforcing that at every turn, and keep reminding publishers, so that we get more sets made in a similar fashion.

Well, every companies' mission is to make money, not waste money. Perhaps the bean counters up on that black tower in Universal City considered the sleeve to be a money-saving idea.

^ There can be no other reason. It's not like we keep asking for that packaging. The least they could do is add padding or something and not just the cardboard sleeves themselves.

It's also my mission to save money and not waste money, and acquire nice products in the meantime. Not worry about the financials of some corporate conglomerate.

Why do people always take this stance? It's ridiculous; you have no point. I can operate under your same guise from my own viewpoint.

ah, of course.

But as far as we know all special features will be the same worldwide?
UK, US, Australia, Canada

Would go out of my way for one if it included any extra feature(s) or disc.

What might happen is uni make 2 discs again, one for the us market with burnt in text and a euro disc with player generated text like Scarface.

Well, they did not do that for BTTF before.
Also, with Scarface, they started this textless nonsense relatively early: with the first non-Columbia Universal DVD release in Europe. I guess it's a per-title thing.
