I don't know how this would compare to ebay/GRUV, but when Target had a similar price for their Fast and Furious collection (Blu-Ray), they still honored that purchase.

Basically Gruv site went “Back to the Future” and priced the set at the 2025 price. In other words, around 2025 the price of this set will be $10 just like the BD and DVD sets before this. It will be a few years in the future but it will drop to the $10 price. But great Scott I didn’t expect the UHD set to be this price in 2020 before it even comes out, this is heavy!

Apparently all 4K collections at Gruv.com are priced at $7.50 - Borne, Jurassic Park, the Purge, Fast & Furious, Despicable Me, Cornetto Trilogy. I put an order in for the ones I don't already have. Will see whether it actually ships.

I'm really shocked about this and am eager to see how this all plays out. I was able to order from GRUV as the eBay page was sold out at the moment I checked on Saturday night. $13.49 shipped. That'll definitely be the deal of the century. I kept my Target preorder intact, though. But anyone who ordered more than 3 should have their order cancelled.

One thing that did cross my mind is what if this was intentional? What if Universal decided to cut out the retailers as an experiment and drastically reduced the price to attract people who normally would not have bought this on release day at the MSRP? Plus, with stores like Best Buy and Target ridding their physical media available in stores, this gives a giant boost to physical sales and 4K in general with potentially attracting new customers to the format.

I'm not bothered with the crap packaging as the 4K discs will be going into the 30th anniversary Target steelbook.

I don't know, I can't see how they're going to fulfill all of these orders, and since they can't fulfill them all, my guess is that they will simply cancel them all. I mean, realistically, they received enough eBay orders alone to necessitate an entire print run. If Universal actually fulfilled all these, even cancelling the scalper orders, it would literally be the biggest deal in UHD history--a major box set available for less than 1/5 the MSRP and before street date, I'm not sure anyone but Amazon could make good on such a deal.

I think the reason for any delay is because this affects two storefronts, eBay and gruv.com, so they have to get people working to cancel literally thousands of orders on eBay and probably hundreds, if not thousands more off of their site. It will be interesting to see if they offer any sort of coupon for the inconvenience, though, at least for those who ordered from the site.
