Any chance the Americans here can badger Universal for Psycho-style replacement discs...
There are stereo tracks they are just for the commentary, some people wrongly assumed this meant theatrical audio mixes but this was never advertised.

Would also like to know this. The UK Blu-ray included the wrong discs, but wondering if the US version is the corrects discs or not.

Copies of the U.K. UHD set started to arrive today and they have the remastered Blu-rays so the U.S. set should have no worries.

Ah, the possibilities - Sidney's Lumet's '12 Angry Men'.....with state of the art, multi-dimensional sound. *Drum roll* Dolby. Atmos. If I can't hear that fan whirring in my overhead speaker then I don't wan' it!!
Can we solve disagreements without resorting to first grade mocking? That goes to the 15 people who liked that post as well. We need to come together, not divide even more.

TheBondFan, you did nothing wrong. You are loved. Next time, you’ll get encouragement and education than what you endured here.

Grains looks intact but less pronounced than I anticipated. Is that from noise reduction or were these films just shot on lower grained/slower film stocks?

I don’t think Fat Phil was being serious though? His post was very tongue in cheek.

Yes but it has truth in it. And I don’t think it came from a good place, i.e. just having fun. If TheBondFan took it in stride, that’s fine. We all could laugh at ourselves. I’m just worried about their feelings if otherwise.

Grain was definitely mildly to strongly reduced, depending on the scene. Overall it's towards the mild side. However, what's not visible in screenshots is that some grain is frozen, when watched in motion on my 65" OLED. Only briefly flicked through but an example would be around 7 minutes of part 1, there's a light frozen grain "halo" around Marty and Strickland as they walk down the hallway.

Honestly, the more I look at it, the less I think it has any grain reduction. The negative appears to have elements that aren't tact sharp, hence the crazy sharpening of the old Blu-Ray transfer. It seems that transfer was so over sharpened that I'm remember the film as having more grain than it actually did. An overly sharpened 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gen copy would look much more grainer when sharpness is cranked to the max. This looks to me like an extremely well exposed negative and these results look pretty amazing.

Really not liking how the first film looks on a lot of the caps.

this is an easy pass for me.

There are instances where some shots are better but this is kind of a letdown.

Was hoping the first film would have better/ more grain and look more like film.

...aaaaaaand we're back to thinking it's trash again. Eh.

Even if it's not The Best UHD In The World it's still beating the old Blu-ray like a government mule for the improvements in colour (such as can be discerned from SDR converted caps), the dynamic range and most of all the lack of that hideous sharpening.

The optical with the flames between Marty and Doc's legs looks 10x better than it did before, not for resolution as they've obviously "managed" away the grain - and it's an optical anyway, duh - but the black matte lines around the two figures are almost completely gone and the lighting on their legs blends so much betterer with the actual flames.
