Can someone confirm if this specific scene is different for the UHD?
It's from the 1st movie. In the scene right after Marty flees from Peabody in 1955 (at 33 minutes) we can cleary see it's dark. Not so much, since the sky already changed a little before Marty was almost shot. Remember he came there at 06:00 AM. In the next scene the background is already looking like this, in the old Blu-ray: ![]() But... in the 4K it's possible Universal did this: ![]() So how does this scene look like, and the rest of the 1st movie in the UHD? I mean, compared to the old Blu-ray? |

^^ If you relax your eyes, a 3D image comes out. Clearly the old Blu-ray was a first attempt at 3D without glasses.
Has anyone clarified yet, in BTTF (1), whether the skateboard wheels in the parking lot stay yellow and not go pink as apparently happens in the old DCP / 'DCP' / "DCP" (delete as Geoff D applicable). |

Those caps are very much telling of the image on BD which looks so washed out, and the edge halos are prominent. Speaking to the choir here, but higher brightness does not mean an image revealing more detail.
Simply put, that shit looks like amateur night. The UHD brings the picture into focus where overall it appears more natural. Sold. |

The movie received 5/5 rating regarding 4K image quality in blu-ray.com review https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Batma...230456/#Review . Quote:
I don't assume that every single shot in a film will be "4x" sharper. This is what they want me to believe. And it seems that this is what you believe, unfortunately. I don't expect BTTF to look razor sharp on UHD BD format. I just doubt that it deserves UHD BD release, since FHD BD could bring 95 percent of what the source material offers if done properly. Quote:
I'm not whining about movies being available in the best possible quality. I'm just trying to tone down the UHD BD hype. Based on your enthusiastic expressions, it seems it is not far from brainwashing. Improvements you see are mostly thanks to remastering, not UHD BD capabilities. |

Which is why my comment about you having zero clue about how films are shot stands. You're making assumptions you know nothing about, and you are 100% wrong. So it's probably best you don't keep posting about your faux crusade, because you really have no idea what you're even talking about. And no, "4x sharper" is not "what I believe," because I work in film and I know better. Some shots are just softer. Some film stocks are just softer. The way some films are shot are not going to be "razor video game sharp" which is what you seem to incorrectly expect from every release regardless of production differences. That's what I mean by having correct knowledge before posting nonsense. |
