Got my standard U.K boxset delivered just now. Currently checking it out. What a difference compared to the old box set of the trilogy.
The 4k and remastered Blu-rays are a million times better than the old ones. This box set has disc trays unlike the U.S version which has slide in card board slip thing cases! Plus it has new bonus features. Only £50. Well worth the outlay.
Thanks for the very in-depth review Geoff. Hope everybody gets there box sets soon and can enjoy the shit out of this.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to the future!

The reviews here at Blu-ray.com say were in for a treat! Universal did a great job on these films .I can't wait to see these 3 movies.

Ok, you got me there. And now, please, show me any mentions of the issues Geoff talks about in his review? Oh wait.... "The image is free of any serious print faults or encode problems."

Haven't ordered from amazon.com for a while, so will the price come done a week or two after release, or is this probably the best price we will see for a while?

If I were being charitable, I'd say there's a possibility that this was done after the fact as a creative decision and not to gloss over any opticals or dupes as such, in order to play up the "it's gotta be a dream!" bewilderment that Marty feels. (Dean Cundey even says in the extras that he certainly lit the 1955 scenes more softly than the harsher present-dat stuff.) I may be giving Universal and Mr Gale far too much credit, and it still sucks that they did it in any case, but nowhere else in the entire film is the "grain management" this blindingly obvious so there must be some reason why they did it. Look at Marty when he starts the long walk into town along the road, a literal bubble of smoothness follows him as he moves.
Thanks for the review Geoff! I always appreciate the time and care you put into these.

My set arrived Saturday morning and I got a chance to watch Part 1 last night and I woke up to see your review posted. I resonated with the above paragraph, I even chuckled while reading it. My thought while viewing the film was: "Huh? Did they try to make this look squeaky clean so that it felt like a dream? Weird choice."

Assuming Parts 1 and 2 are done similarly to Part 1, this will be a set to be celebrated, in my opinion. Very happy with my purchase.
