If there was only some way of putting original audio mixes on 4k discs...

Really...the fact that Bob Gale got the inspiration by leafing through his father's Yearbook is mentioned three times on Disc 1 alone and I'm still working my
way through so it may be more.

I think the most striking comparisons are those for Part III

No kidding! Even in their scaled down full-frame shots you can see more detail in the 4K than the Blu-ray!

I have the Back to the Future ultimate 4k set in the cardboard sleeves. Just inspected the disc and there are zero scratches on the disc.

Went to Universal Studios Home Entertainment disc replacement program page and it doesn't work, not to mention they want $7.95 for the replacement.

The BR shots remind me of the very first DVD version of BTTF3, where the brightness/contrast were too low for half of the film.

I only watched the first film, as others have said, it's like seeing it for the first time. It's like wiping haze off a window, everything just looks clearer and more natural compared to the old BD which I have watched many times. I can't say I ever noticed the black stripes at the top of Marty's red "zoot suit" tie before, or the diamond pattern at the top of Lorraine's dress.

I agree with poster KMFDM about the audio, I also noticed the lack of bass upon the first startup of the DeLorean in the back of Doc's van. On the flip side I felt the bass was ramped up in the final sequence, particularly when the "fire trails" start behind the tires of the DeLorean. Dynamics did seem lacking in the beginning, but seemed to even out as the film progressed. Could have just been my imagination.

The first instance of Power of Love also sounded a little off, but the second instance and subsequent music was fantastic. I also thought the high end of the mix sounded a bit hot, maybe exaggerated by my system since I run "Flat" EQ. Overall I was very happy with the Atmos.

Unlike some here I am a fan of all 3 films, can't wait to check out the sequels as they sound like the biggest upgrades.
Yep, I can't really speak with authority about how the sound field itself has been altered but from listening to these new mixes in PCM 5.1 piped through my telly I can't say I've ever been pulled out of of the moment by some dodgy new effect during all three films (for which the quality of the user's reproduction won't matter as a new effect is a new effect, period). Not saying there aren't any additions at all but I've seen these movies so many times over the years and yet they still sounded like Back to the Future, the emotional connection is still there. And that horrible warbling on sustained notes in BTTF pt 2 has been fixed at long ****ing last!

When I wrote them about replacing one disc that had a printing defect, here's what they had written me:

Dear [insert name],

Thank you for contacting us.

If possible, please return the "[insert title]" package the retailer for replacement. If not, to receive a replacement, please email a copy of your sales receipt or a photo of the front and back of the DVD package to us at the address below:

ConsumerRelations@visionmediamgmt.com (NOTE: this is a different address.)

Please include a copy of this correspondence and let us know your shipping address, daytime telephone number and the following information:.

We apologize for your inconvenience and hope that you will continue to enjoy Universal releases.

Sincerely,

UNIVERSAL PICTURES HOME ENTERTAINMENT

They only charge for the replacement if the disc was damaged by the consumer, not for a manufacturing defect.

Probably no help to you, but the UK is getting a standalone "Japanese Artwork" Steelbook version of the original in November, so there may be others down the line. https://store.hmv.com/store/film-tv/...apanese-artwor

Hello, Target, hello!

I am a pretty patient person, but having no communication on this is getting ridiculous. What's the point of preordering, if I can go to my nearest Target and just a grab a copy, while the online order sits in limbo?

I love the look and feel of the hard case digibook but this is just the wrong way to store the discs. BTW, the outer slipcover was wrapped in one of those spider things at BB so there were 4 dings on it. Thankfully I was planning on ditching the slip anyway but that was stupid of BB.
While it's certainly a huge upgrade from the regular blu rays and best the trilogy ever looked on home video, especially Part II and III, it's not a perfect release, and it shouldn't be advertised as such. More than that, it's not even the best Universal 4K release. It still has quite a lot of problems - DNR, some weird chroma glitch on Part I. It's not like I'm trying to beat someone down, but this things should be addressed, so that Universal wouldn't think it's all perfect. It's not that perfect. Close but not yet.

Watched BTTF 4K last night. Could still spot some of the edge enhancement in a few spots, but those instances aside, it looked amazing. Far far better than the old Blu-ray.

Also running into disc freezing and stuttering issues, but on both Part II and Part III. In Part II, it happens when Marty approaches Biff's Pleasure Palace and goes for about 30-45 seconds. In Part III, it happens after Doc and Marty rescue Clara and return her home. This happens for more than two minutes. I've looked at the disc and don't see any scratches. Watching on an Xbox One S, but I haven't had any issues with UHD freezes before. Otherwise, it's a beautiful set and really enjoy the upgrade.

I'm still waiting on the Men in Black 4k solo release, I very much do not want to own any of the other MIB movies.

I placed 2 orders with GRUV, one from their site and one through the cheaper eBay sale. Emailed them to cancel the site order, but of course they never responded or did. Yesterday I got charged for it, so assuming the other order goes through and I get both I'll have an extra copy for sale plus shipping. I'm more interested in my eBay order, hopefully that'll go through.

That 10 minute segment stuck out like a sore thumb to me. How can any "professional" reviewer not pick up on this this ? Ridiculous. Unless of course they've been told not to mention it.
Your closer to the truth then you know. This sort of think is happening with 4k tvs ,oled tvs where sites like RTTINGS and Digital trends outright lie about tvs because there sponsored by the TV manufacturers. They always say for example Oled is the king of TVS ,yet fail to show Oleds short comings so someone goes out and spends 2500. bucks and 2 months later has awful burn in because of the nature of oled technology. These sites are not to be trusted, just a warning. They have gotten better since people have been pushing back and calling them out, but they will never say for example don't buy a certain TV. They can't because they will lose their sponsors and lose there funds. So just a warning my friend.
