And I think as the TV is in DV mode, it's not receiving the right signal if you're playing a HDR10 disc with DV on, so we'll have to agree to disagree.
Using a Sony ZD9 & X700 by the way.

Ha ha ha!!!!! You don't know me well. There isn't much in this house that could be called a "healthy meal". I'm lucky if the meal isn't borderline bad enough to kill me. lol.

Yep, problem solved, looks like I forgot that when the TV detects a DV signal it has different screen presets for picture quality. I have normal TV viewing set to Standard and in the Dolby Vision setting that is set to Cinema mode which is duller, I've now changed that to DV Standard to.

So exactly as I said in post #4985
"Probably the TV's DV settings want looking at".

The UK set arrived today (I normally go for US imports, but those discs holders - yuck!) The UK set is real nice. The cover, without the floating heads, is nicely embossed and the discs are presented in a fold-out digipak with absolutely no need to grab and pull in order to remove. A littler chunkier overall, but worth it. It retains the poster art and content layouts on the reverse side of the digipak.

It takes quite a bit of fiddling, not just to get the right picture quality, but also to avoid piture processing delays of DV vs regular picture inputs. On LG OLEDs you have to force an 80ms delay to standard inputs so that everything can be calibrated and synced correctly. They do make things unnecessarily difficult.

The reason a bluray would look wrong cause the TV is in DV mode with completely diff settings compared to SDR
The Sony player is NOT sending the “right signal” to the TV, when DV is set to On while playing non-DV content. The player is converting SDR or HDR content to DV thus making it look like crap. I hated my x700 for having to constantly remember to turn DV off after watching a DV movie. I switched to a Panasonic 820 and couldn’t be happier.

Actually I don't disagree there, might be right. I remember someone posting awhile back on the player thread that they called Sony and a tech said turn DV on and the player will auto detect between DV and HDR10, which it seems to be doing, but then the tv goes in DV mode so you really don't know if your getting the right picture.

Maybe so but it does show the same info as HDR10 with DV on and playing an HDR10 disc

I couldn't decide between the UK digipak and the steels. Went with the steels but I still want the UK.

As an aside. Small world by the way. Don't see many people from my neck of the woods.

I tested this out last night on my LG C9. Although I have the Spears and Munsil Blu-ray Disc, I took at look at the sharpness slide and noticed no difference between 0 and 10. It was after 10 that I noticed the setting starting to add artificial sharpening to the picture. My TV has been professionally calibrated too so I trust whoever calibrated my TV that 10 is the proper setting for the C9.

Universal definitely got the message regarding the mono track on Psycho. Wondering if those same channels are being used to communicate the chroma issue with Part 1. I could fixing this being a much bigger deal though than slapping another audio track on a disc.

No argument concerning them making things difficult, but I am confused as to the 80ms thing. I have a LG 65C9, which is fed by an Oppo 203 via Denon 6400H. I have never forced any delay, either in the AVR or the TV, and have not seen (heard?) anything off, native DV or no...

I have a C8 and agree with you. I have no idea what he is talking about regarding picture processing delays (?)

I can only imagine he is referring to lip sync issues, but I certainly don't have any issues connected to my Denon receiver, and I don't need to manually tweak the delays.

Received the 3 steelbook set from BBY.com today. Luckily arrived in perfect condition. The slipcase has dividers between each steelbook preventing them from rubbing against each other, and the steelbooks are not individually wrapped.

I have never seen any of these movies before.
