I was going to buy the US set as it was cheaper than buying the AU set, but when I saw it was the book packaging I changed my mind.

Good move. The 3 steelbooks version is the best one. Although shipping to AU could be risky if not packaged correctly.

With these new 4K steelbooks why is it so hard to just put the theatrical poster on there? The 4K Batman steels were terrible, and these aren’t that great either. I was happy that the digibook included the OG posters in some capacity.

I agree. I prefer franchise movies to be housed in a box with individual cases that have original poster art.

Is the UK 4K UHD Box Set the same as the U.S. release? I've heard reports that the blurays included in the UK set are NOT the new remastered ones? Is that true does anyone know? Thank you.
The U.K. Blu-Ray set has the wrong discs, the U.K. UHD set contains the correct remastered discs.

Which is why my preference was to order the HMV exclusive Steelbook of the first movie, despite the Japanese text at the bottom.

..but then I ordered the trilogy Steelbook set from Zavvi anyway, which I'll likely sell on after watching the new features on the bonus disc.

There are CD poly sleeves similar to the old "camel condom" laser-videodisc sleeves, with rounded bottom. I bought a pack of them when The Beatles remasters were released. Too bad I don't know where I placed them...

I received my order from Gruv. Unfortunately a couple of the disc have light scratches due to the packaging. I doubt it’ll effect disc playback but still a little annoying.

You can get sleeves that are a) small enough and b) have rounded corners - unfortunately it is difficult to discern the size from descriptions.

The link below (Amazon UK) are the correct size - and yes I know they are out of stock. Hopefully the description will help you track them down elsewhere:

Just got my steelbook set from Best Buy in the mail today. Fortunately undamaged.

I really do quite like the matte finish of these steelbooks (helps keep fingerprints at bay, to boot), and the artwork is cute. Most importantly, though, no goddamn digibook packaging.

TM2-Megatron As much as I don't doubt that steel books do get damaged in transit, I suspect that it is not very often so when it dose happen people overplay things. I also wonder if it is delivery people doing the damage when they force it through a letter box that is a tight squeeze

Where those the releases with the "abrasive" gauze for sleeves?

I remember more than 20 years ago when Digipaks were starting to become the new IT thing in packaging of CDs. They have been around for more than 30 years it seems, but I only remember my first actual album CD in a digipack in 1999. Before that it was mostly CD singles that I remember having the digipack sleeves and what not. Though some artists were worse than others. R.E.M. are especially notorious for this. Especially when they signed to Warner Brothers back in 1987/1988.

They started putting out special editions of their albums on CD. It was mainly just special packaging with some different artwork and what not. However, some of the designs for these would make most people here cringe for how it housed its CD sometimes. You might get lucky and get a nice sleeve for it. Other times, you'd be lucky to get a sleeve at all. Some of the packaging made these Back to the Future packages look amzing in comparison.

Suffice it to say, I've had to deal with the worst of cardboard packing for more than 20 years and actually don't mind it now. Especially if it's done right. And in the case of Back to the Future, it is most certainly done right. I've seen much worse, which is why I can say this has been done right. I've got some DVD packaging that would literally make your skin crawl, it's so bad. Still, the DVD plays flawlessly. Depsite the fact that the packaging is made by a bunch of incompetent monkeys. The whole "eco" thing and all.

Them's the ones! But hey, at least they had a slot where you could get a hold of the disc unlike these moronic ones that Universal are so fond of.

GR-UV says the next shipment is due in the warehouse on the 16th.
The rep said all the orders that had a lot of copies were canceled.
So, we should be getting our shipments soon.

Had no freezing issues on any of the discs surprisingly. But now since I've shoved them back into the sleeves, ill have to see how they play next time.

I've played all three once with zero problems, shoved them back in the sleeves, and played Back to the Future again with no problems again. You should be fine.

Maybe. No idea. I asked her if she saw the 30 and 80 on eBay, she said yes and they and most multiple orders were canceled. Said that they weren't taking chances with resellers or scalpers.
