What a joy it was to revisit these gems in 4K.

Though I feel The Lord of the Rings is the most ambitious trilogy ever made, the Back to the Future trilogy remains my favorite.

Pure entertainment from start to finish.

The Star Wars original trilogy, Lord of the Rings trilogy, and The Back to the Future are the 3 best trilogies out there. Some may say The Dark Knight trilogy or even the Godfather trilogy but both have weak 3rd entries. Indiana Jones and Toy Story are no longer trilogies so I don't think we should include them. The new Planet of the Apes and How to Train Your Dragon trilogies are just okay.

TDKR is by no means a weak film, it may be that for some it does not measure up to the first two, however, it's a very good film. So I would put The Dark Knight trilogy among the best ever made.

I ended up watching Universal's YT video of BTTF 1's first 10 mins and realizing I won't be able to see the other 1hr and 38 mins until Thanksgiving (unless they use the $5.99 shipping I paid for) ugh

My $10 Gruv order (ordered from their website) has been released from warehouse purgatory and is on the way! For that price I don't mind the wait.

Oh, nice! I saw that they were selling a standard replica on Amazon, but I didn't realise you could get one with the whole shebang (dust jacket, receipt, and bag).

Does the book actually contain information about sports from 1950-2000? Can you open it for me?

The SW trilogy of trilogies are the three best trilogies.
Then you have BTTF and the new Planet Of The Apes one.

(I'd still kinda count Indy since it's close to a trilogy even if one over now. Although it does get dicey since then you can start sort of talking Terminator in certain ways and Alien and such (Alien original trilogy is like two amazing ones for me and then one of my least favorite movies, I like 4 and all the sort of associated later films way more than that one). If we count that then that is there for sure and you have the 3 of 3 for SW, Indy and BTTF for the three greatest trilogies/sets of trilogies. And Godfather is a good set too even if it's weighted heavily towards the beginning.)

Anyway if you just go by the first three of each (potentially slightly longer series):
1. 3 of 3 (4-6,1-3,7-9) for SW
2. Indy 1-3 (first the best, second the weakest of the three)
3. BTTF 1-3 (liking here the first one the most, then a bit back the other two with 3 a bit before 2, although 2 moves up a bit compared to when they came out)
4. Terminator 1-3 (3 still very good but not quite like 1-2)
5. Apes (new) 1-3 (liking here the last one of the most, just an utter masterpiece, and the first one less than the last two, the second really wonderful, the first one nice and cool but not up there with the last two)
6. Alien 1-3 (with 1 and 2 great each in their own very different way and then 3 being actually one of the movies I've not really liked watching at all, just doesn't do it for my personally and one of my least favorite big movies of all, so a weird mix of among the best ever sci-fi horror and sci-fi action ever and then a real yeck for me for the other)
7. Godfather 1-3 (favoring 1, not a trasher of 3 like many but it is a bit lower in the rung)

Imagine discussing the best trilogies of all time and excluding Toy Story like that.

In terms of books, then I suddenly have LOTR (plus Hobbit) right there at #1 though!
(then I'm kind of partial to Huckleberry Finn and Sherlock Holmes anthology and then various things)
