Agreed. Universal seems to want to drag out the 35th Anniversary for as much of the year as possible, starting with TCM Film Festival in April. That and it seems to make more sense to release a set like this in the late 3rd or early 4th quarter, closer to Christmas. Easily a $65+ set, maybe more if they include the Animated Series and The Ride again.

Any word on whether this will debut the 4K transfers?

No clue. It would make sense to unveil the new 4K scan for TCM, but I haven't a clue. I stopped making assumptions about what Uni's going to do, and my contact has proved unreliable when I ask, so I just don't ask anymore.

I heard this will come out in early to mid year. So if that's the case the pre-order could be starting around April or May with a June or July release. Only saying that because this is my all time favorite trilogy. I definitely can't wait for this release.

Forget 4K, having the actual aspect ratio would be appreciated.

Check out this YouTube video, and you can see that tiny little square at the center of the screen; that's what we're getting on the Blu-ray, well over 50% of the actual image has been cropped out.

I would think this trilogy would be released around the same time as the original film was released.

It would make sense if it came out in the summer because the first movie was released in the summer of 1985.

Not for nothin', the MCU is the new wave of current films, Endgame just out of theaters. Of course they're going to be in the channel of product that's current (currently the business model), what's on-point for rakin' in the big money now.

Back-catalogs will always come after that.

I predicted that the 4K set would be released in October to be consistent with the prior two Blu-ray releases, since their respective release dates were references to the October 21, 2015 date Marty and Doc Brown visit in Part II. That said, if it ends up being released around June or July, then that may actually be even better since the first Back to the Future was released in July 1985.

Here's what it actually looks like on the DVD and/or Blu-ray.

Not only is a massive portion of the ride film image missing, another 30% of it at least is being covered up by the dashboard.

Here's a really good example of the DVD vs. the original IMAX film.

I guess the point is that this is what you would see on the ride if you didn't look around?

Like for a VR movie, if you were going to project it in 2D you would obviously have to cut out a lot of footage. Obviously this is not 360 degrees, but maybe you can't see the whole screen at once either.

Going on 30 years since I was on the ride so yeah not like I remember. I'm just trying to think of an explanation for this.

I still don't understand why Universal would replace that ride with The Simpsons.

The French release of the first film is scheduled for July 3, so I guess the US release will be sometime in June. If the French specs are correct it will have HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos.

As a huge Simpsons fan, even I have to admit that The Simpsons ride sucks compared to BTTF (albeit BTTF truly showing its age)
