If you got these from Best Buy on release day (as I did), your return window extends until January 16.

Good to know, but since there were no skips or freezes, I think I'm set. Knock on plastic.

Is the collectible levitating Hoverboard replica worth the extra money?

its just me , or the picture is awful ? only difference i see when i compare standard bluray 1080p and this 4k is that the 4K release has pale/faded colours , crushed black so any details in dark scenes are gone and the picture is darker , on the + side it looks like without DNR , but this transfer doesn't look anything like 4K and not even 4KDI , maybe 1080p without DNR . I am very disappointed , been waiting too long for this upgrade but this is pure trash and not worth the money

Sounds like something is 100% wrong with your settings/setup.

So far I'd say it's just you.

I just bought my first 4K player and am woefully ignorant to the game.

What do you recommend I do with my tv/player do get the best results?

...thanks.

I’m not going to tell you what kind of television I have Geoff.

It’s not a 4K, that’s all I’ll say.

...I don’t need your ridicule.

ive just ended watching the 2nd film and tweak some settings , whole movie is so soft , so i added +6 sharpness to get some crispness to the picture and to see something in the dark scenes i add +2 brightness so now its watchable , colours are true and not oversaturated , but still its not DEMO worthy 4KDI

Of coursh you need it, everybody does! Remember: I treat everyone like they're an idiot, it's nothing personal.

As for your situation, SDR conversion is fraught with as many pitfalls as HDR is, so your non-4K TV being a supermarket special or a majestic mural of magnificence doesn't really matter, it's the player that's the key.

Basically everything you've said about BTTF is wrong. It's got far more fine detail than the terrible old Blu, the colour is superior without that nasty orange drench to skin tones, it actually shows MORE shadow detail than the old Blu-ray does because they've lifted the blacks, and the HDR brings back some big chunks of highlight detail. It's like your TV has somehow manage to invert the disc

Sony 65ZD9 TV, OPPO 203, Panasonic 820 players.

PS

This doesn't necessarily mean that its DEMO worthy 4KDI...but whoever promised that a 35yo movie shot on some of the grainiest stock of the '80s was going to be DEMO worthy 4KDI? Expectations were involved in a head-on collision with reality, and expectations done got ****ed up.

I bought a Sony UBP-X700.

It seemed like a decent, relatively inexpensive 4k player for someone who’s just dipping his fungus-ridden toes into the 4K waters.

...do your worst.

The Sonys are okay at SDR conversion, not great.
