So I just watched part 2 on blu-ray. These so-called "remasters" have pretty much had all the grain removed yet again. WHY!!!! Why with it being in the 2020s now is Universal still doing this crap? I can't say anything about the 4K copy yet because I haven't watched it, but I'm really disappointed with the way the 1st and 2nd blu-rays turned out.

i will get some up later, i am disappointed in it really, for the price it feels cheap, the plutonium capsules are plastic tubes really not worth the money, and i already have the Amazon limited edition steelbook collection which is much better imo |

Forgive me if this has been answered before but there are so many pages to sift through:
My set is plagued by the skipping and freezing. It seems cleaning the discs alleviates this issue. Can someone share with me the best and safest way to clean a 4K disc? I'd hate to ruin it completely if I can avoid it. |

BTTF-2 is the weakest in the trilogy IMO but doesn't mean its a bad film. BTTF has good replay value close to Home Alone.

I opened my set yesterday and I've watched parts 1 and 2 so far. Unfortunately part 1 freezes and pixelates at around 48 minutes, in chapter 10. The disc has no scratches or anything, and this is the first time this has happened to me. Is there something to do before asking for a replacement? Thanks!

if none of that works then contact for replacement disc (good luck! Universal along with WB have been very bad about getting back to me) |

FYI - Tomorrow is Michael J. Fox's 60th birthday.
I haven't watched the series since I bought it shortly after its release, so I'm going to watch the first film tomorrow in his honor and the other two in the next few days. |

I'm happy to report that for some reason the movie plays just fine if you go offline on your xbox, the scene plays just fine, so every time I watch a movie on my xbox one s, I'm gonna put it offline before playing the disc. Hope this helps anyone who's having the same problem!

Well, I got it on discount this weekend and I have to say I'm really quite happy with the presentation in the remastered Blu-ray set, even if not as impressive as the 4K, it still represents a leap in quality long overdue for the trilogy (one that we could have gotten in 2015, but alas). But the important thing is is that we have it now, and oh boy. Gone is the aggressive DNR, gone is the haloing, the white crush, the unnatural-looking grain, waxy faces, and no more telling myself "these unrestored deleted scenes look better than the damn movie!" These films look like film and never-before-seen textures are revealed. Reds are desaturated bringing out their detail as well. It's fabulous
Audio is an overall improvement. The 1080p disc's DTS-HD MA 5.1 track is indeed a downmix of the 4K's Atmos track, with all the minor changes and (maybe?) flubs that comes with it, but I found dialogue more intelligible and the mix is more active in the surrounds. Music is loud but not fatiguing or prone to drowning out foley like Tim Burton's Batman in Atmos. Back to the Future has never been a posterchild for awful revisionist audio and that continues to be the case, but there were a few changes that stuck out: - The lightning that strikes the clock tower is "beefed up", and there's new ambient wind after the DeLorean travels back to 1985. - Doc's old west "sniper rifle" has a new-sounding gunshot, which I expect will be treated with the same fervour as Strickland's 1985A shotgun (although not a big deal to me personally). I count my lucky stars that they all still sound like they exist in the world of the film, unlike The Good, the Bad and the Ugly for example. I don't mean to convince anybody to go out and buy the 4K remasters (if you're reading this, you've probably already done that), but more to express my relief that these were worth the double dip... and maybe inspire a more comprehensive list of the trilogy's new audio changes.
