I love back to the Future and I love Disneyland. It's a family/children's park and I hardly think the Back to the Future has more effect on the children and families of today then those 70 year old characters like ummmm...Snow White, Mickey mouse, Dumbo ride, Alice in wonderland, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh, tarzan, goofy's playhouse, Donald's boat. Today's children have never heard of them or like them anymore do they. They're all dated characters that no children likes anymore or care about. All the children recognise doc and Marty before any of those characters. Doc and Marty memorabilia/ toys and movies sell more than all those characters don't they. Not to mention their parents fond memories. You're right, all those 70 year old characters have nothing on the Doc and Marty.

By the way cool t-shirt you're wearing in your avatar.

BTTF 1 & 2 Blu-rays were also ones encoded with VC-1 so it'll be nice to see such a difference with 4K quality. Day 1!

It always struck me as odd that 1 and 2 used a different codec than 3 when they were all released in one package on the same day.

Was there ever an explanation for why they did this?

I dont know why since I love the first film and find the other two decent.... but I dont see the point in buying these in 4K. I should "want them" in 4K but Im just not stoked about it.

We're talking about the Back to the Future trilogy here. If there are any movies that are supposed to be vibrant and colorful, these are the ones I'm going with. A UHD HDR release is the perfect occasion to get a solid presentation of these three classics. The previous transfers are very dated. I'm just hoping that Universal doesn't screw this release up.

So a "solid presentation" of these movies in UHD is supposed to be "vibrant and colourful"? Huh. I'll settle for them not being bludgeoned with DNR and sharpening, if the HDR is so bright they can see it on the ISS then that's a bonus.

They're from the 80's (a decade when I was a kid and an early teenager and you know I dislike) anything from the 80's should be full of excess!

They're from the decade that taste forgot but not every filmmaker in the '80s lost their marbles. Dean Cundey shot these and his '80s movies aren't known for a lurid neon look, nor are his movies in general come to think of it.

more like the any recent decade that HAD taste hah

60s and post 80s were all about being grungy and not giving a shit about taste or look and actively trying to not look like you care

The funny thing is that when I see pretty much ANY older movie get a fresh new transfer from the OG neg (or even a decent IP) then it makes it feel so much more vital and involving, like it was shot yesterday rather than seeing it refracted through a tired old transfer which is the thing that dates it the most. I'm helping to QC a new transfer of a beloved horror classic at the moment and it's amazing how it compares to the smeary piece of shit transfer that's been doing the rounds for years and years and years.
