I bought the US set despite being in the UK and with this set like any 4k disc nowadays I literally take the disc out as best as possible of this set or even any 4k case flip it over, hold up to the light and use a soft cloth to wipe away any finger prints while holding with finger in the centre and at the edge with thumb. When happy I can't spot anything then I put in the player and hope for the best.

Because of the issues with BTTF 4k, I had stutter first time I played pt1 and then checked disc again next time I played and then went on to play all 3 films back to back and had no issues whatsoever. But I had to really take a good look at the discs before playing to make sure they were spotless.

I was finally ready to pull the trigger on this set and order a copy from Gruv, but now I'm hesitant after hearing how many folks have reported issues on here. I don't see why I should have to be cleaning my brand-new discs before I pop them in my player for the 1st time.

Just want to toss my hat into the ring and say all of my discs played fine (LG UBK80 player), but I will never understand why studios decide on awful packaging like this. It's like they're hoping, over time, you damage your discs and will have to purchase again. These things are so hard to get out of this case without either feeling like you're going to rip the cardboard flaps that hold the discs or scratch the discs... so fckin stupid! I haven't much felt like printing custom artwork lately, but this might be one that I do that for and then stick them into normal cases.

EDIT: For real, after I print out custom artwork and put these in normal cases, I'm going to throw this cardboard packaging away. There's seriously nothing that makes me want to keep this or even give a shlt. Unless you eventually want to damage your discs, I'd toss this shlt and not even think twice. Not even for collector's sake, is this worth keeping around.

I have a Sony UBP-X800M2. Since Feb. I had it pause in each movie once. I ejected and wiped it off no problem. They were wiped off and clean before putting them in. I think it might be my player. I have had an occasional 4k pause but then play. No problems at all with blu rays.

This is some of the worst packaging. Mine has fallen apart and the discs are nearly impossible to get in and out.

Yea it's absolutely horrible. I pulled the discs out as best as I could and then put them into a different case I got at Casetopia and printed out custom artwork.

Some international versions had standard cases for each movie.

^Don't think that's all that significant though really in the grand scheme of things when describing something as not having original audio. It's very tiny.

That sounds abit silly to me. At the end of the day the quieter line isn't coming across as anything out of the ordinary or of an unusually low volume level. So doesn't really even make sence for it to be suggested that it's level was to quiet to be heard on VHS.

They may not have when it comes to people wanting 100% original elements or stems or particularly number of channels etc, but when you go through the chain of releases, I would assume they are probably the closest.

Because the first Blu Ray's had at the very least some atmospheric sounds added, birds chirping etc. And from what iv read and gathered, it seems the latest blu rays/4ks have had even further slight changes added, including dialogue or timing of dialogue.

Not saying it didn't happen. But how minor are these changes? I've seen the BD for the first movie, especially, over 50 times. And when you get north of 20 you start to listen for things you never heard before, etc. And now the UHD viewings is at least 2 but could be 4. Oddly I didn't write down each viewing. I didn't notice anything different, though.

I don't know how many or how subtle to be honest. I'm just by going by it having been mentioned by some people. And at the end of the day, even if subtle, changes are still changes, or differences are still differences. And as we know on here, to some and also depending on what a particular film means to someone, they are not gonna like any change whatsoever. Although of course that's gonna vary from person to person. (And I expect sometimes it's only because some people just complain for the sake of complaining. Or always want the opposite of what they've got. )

When it comes to noticing changes in general though (for any film) I tend to find it happens when I'm actually not looking for it or when it's not even on my mind. And that all of a sudden il just suddenly think that sounded abit different, or sounded new. And I expect it's a given to say, but it also usually only happens with films I grew up with. And that unbeknown to me, the original audio must kinda unconsciously be stamped into my brain.

Catching up on this thread and seeing multiple posts like these really makes me glad I was lucky enough to nab the Ultimate Trilogy packaging from the UK. I haven't gotten around to watching them yet, but hopefully they have no issues!

Yes indeed! It was the overall packaging of the Ultimate Trilogy that made me want to get it, but the fact that each film is in its own steelbook was definitely a good additional benefit.

Wouldn't it be great if studios can package their classics like this... instead some boutique international label gets them for the smallest limited print run for some reason which obviously immediately go OOP and then wind up on eBay for thousands sometimes smh

It would be a wonderful set if not for the awful Marty painting on the back. Egads!

Wasn't that original artwork from the 80s though?

Don't let that get in the way of good rant/narrative

Back to the Future had promotional material done for it that doesn't resemble the films tone at all and is highly 80's dated. The movie holds up so much more than that stuff they used to sell the film to teenagers.
