Though one has to question if those guys still have the clout they once did. I mean what is the last big hit they had. You’re only as powerful and influential as your last project.

Same could be said about Spielberg at this point as well. The days of huge BO movies are no longer in his wheelhouse. Did the world need a remake of WSS? I could argue far more people would have rather seen a BttF related project.

Well Zemeckis has the rights so he has final say.

If it's in some sort of contract then clout don't matter.

Just wanted to chime in here and say I bought a standalone 4K player (the Panasonic
420B) and this plays flawlessly.

I believe the issue people are having is with having a player that can’t handle BD-100s. I had issues with three copies of this on my XBox Series X as well as Jurassic Park Fallen Kingdom and the standalone player handles them with ease.

My LORT disc have never played correctly, now my Jaws and all three Back To The Future discs are pixelating. I give up and am going back to BD. My firmware is up date and I am not buying a new player.

What player do you have? It sounds like your optical drive is failing.

sony 4k player x700

I know it is a low end player but it should work. DVD, BD and SACD work flawlessly on it.

Cool story. Even if this is true it sounds like a player issue and has nothing at all to do with the BTTF discs. Rendering it not only irrelevant to this thread but generally inappropriate it was posted in here.

Take this experience you haven't even properly investigated (making it nonsense) to the hardware section, if any.

I watched both Ghostbusters films last night and Predator this morning with no playback issue. Put BTTF II in again and I get the same problem. So it is the discs and not a hardware issue, idiot.

Players can be ‘fine’ but still have issues. Comb the threads of any player and you’ll likely see people reporting playback issues on certain discs, whereas the very same releases work just fine for other people. 4K players seem very finicky and, seemingly, a minor fluctuation in the calibration - which are considered ‘within normal’ range of variance by the company selling the product - of the hardware can cause issues. So, no, the disc could likely be fine. But we don’t have your disc and can’t tell you if there’s anything on the data side that looks problematic.

I wouldn’t resort to calling people names, when you yourself don’t seem to know what you’re talking about.

The discs are fine, I cleaned each of them with a cloth used to clean eye glasses. There is nothing on the data side of the discs. This is the second copy of BTTF I have bought because the one on release day had the second film lock up constantly. This a thread about the 4K UHD discs of Back To The Future and I am having problems with them. Next time I will post in the Indiana Jones thread.

There’s nothing wrong with you asking about the discs having potential issues. The problem is that you are being told that the issue may very well come down to your -player- and you’re being very defiant and calling people names for suggesting this… because you ‘know’ it’s a problem with the disc. People are telling you that it -can- be the player. You tried two discs and they’re both failing you, so at that point I’d think the player is a more likely culprit… wouldn’t you?

Just talk it out instead of being so rude to people. The chip on your shoulder isn’t very becoming.

My first UHD player was a low end model that had playback issues with several discs including a couple instances of multiple copies of the same title (one of which was the Doors which I posted about in that thread). When I upgraded to a better player all of those discs played perfectly. Unless there are widespread reports of a specific issue then, yes, it’s your player that’s the problem.

So the poster who replied to my problem told me that I was making the story up and I am the one being rude?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a cheap model that has issues. The Sony 800 model gave a lot of people playback issues. I recall my Dunkirk wouldn’t play… just pure pixelation and freeze-up city. Played it in my Xbox and it was fine. Play it in my Panny 820, and it’s fine.

I just think minor manufacturing variances can cause problems. It’s a bit of a lottery.

The entire point of my post is that I am having problems with UHD discs. DVD, BD and SACD all play flawlessly. I posted it in the thread of the films that I am having a problem with and then I get some smartass reply telling me I am making the entire thing up.

And you’ve had several more rational posts from people pointing out reasons why it most likely is your player that is causing the playback issues.

Two different laser pickups. Your player is probably at fault.

Even though it plays every other of the hundred UHDs that I have? Anyway I am done, I will just stick with BDs.
