The print I saw was anything but bright and candy coated in neon. Some of the outdoor '50s scenes were bright, but Technicolor this ain't.

Ah man, this has me excited. I'm sure you can't share what movie it is, but will you be able to tell us once the release is announced?

Exactly my point. TBH I can see this being another Casino type scenario where you have certifiable morons like that HDMoviesource fella saying that it's terrible - even though it's a beautiful evocation of the original photography - because it's not super-sharp and it doesn't "pop" like the janky old Blu-ray does.

A lot of BTTF was shot on the dreaded 5294 stock of Aliens infamy for interiors and night exteriors, using the slower 5247 for the VistaVision plates and any bluescreen shots (as 5294 was apparently dreadful for bluescreen according to Ken Ralston of ILM), so by rights any 4K transfer would have it be some sort of hellishly grainy monstrosity - if you drink the Kameron Kool-Aid that is.

I can't say what it is but work has been going on for a while, much longer than anticipated, and we're still running into issues even now. Everyone involved wants to get it 'right' but we may have to settle for getting it 'good enough' in certain spots as we don't have unlimited time or money.

I feel that if they keep the grain for all 3 even if the 1st movie has a heavier grain field than its sequels I am fine with that if it looks on par with Aliens BD i will be stoked

It could be. I really don't know. Maybe Dean Cundey and Robert Zemeckis wanted a very colorful look for those films but had to deal with the limitations of available stocks. I've seen a print of Part II and it definitely wasn't vibrant. Looked brownish mostly. Recent 4K remasters usually are pretty colorful and I'm happy with that. They could go with the original look, I wouldn't complain either. I agree with you tbh, as long as they look like actual films, we'll be good.

Marty is now almost as old as Doc was technically supposed to be in 1985, but damn Chris Lloyd is looking pretty good for 82.

I always thought they were stretching to a bit too much with doc being around 35 to 40 in 1955 and around 65 to 70 in 1985, but still look essentially the same, but damn, slap a white wig on Chris Lloyd, and he's still the 1985 Doc.

2 and 3 are entertaining but not something I need in 4K.

Today's children have never heard of them or like them anymore do they. They're all dated characters that no children likes anymore or care about. All the children recognise doc and Marty before any of those characters. Doc and Marty memorabilia/ toys and movies sell more than all those characters don't they. Not to mention their parents fond memories. You're right, all those 70 year old characters have nothing on the Doc and Marty.
Couldn't disagree more! A visit to Walt Disney World, where I'm an annual passholder (and a senior to boot), proves that youngsters respond excitedly in every way to the classic Disney characters ALL the time.
By writing " They're all dated characters that no children likes anymore or care about" you are generalizing way too much. And No, "Doc and Marty memorabilia..." do NOT sell more than "all those characters, don't they." No, they do not.
Perhaps it's YOU who can't relate to those "old characters" anymore, not the kids. Remember, ALL children who are five or six or seven are meeting these creations for the first time! THAT's why Walt so wisely created the seven-year vault for his films. Every 7 years a new crop of kids arrives to discover!
Think about it.
