It doesn't matter what all those older formats did because the bizarre VHS-style chroma bleed in one reel was introduced on the UHD. As below, it's nothing to do with any kind of filming process and is solely a transfer-based error.

Nope. That whole sequence when Marty arrives in town has chunky aliasing on the UHD which has nothing to do with budget or age or unicorns. It's not even there on the new Bluray derived from the 4K transfer, it's some kind of export error on the UHD master itself.

Weird how BTTF always has problems despite being meticulously overseen by Bob Gale every time. Funny thing is, it's always a bunch of new problems.

I hope this is the version with the 3 individual plastic cases!
My set arrived today.

Unfortunately it’s not the version with the 3 individual cases, it’s the set with 2 cases (one for the uhd trilogy & one for the hd trilogy)

You beat me to it. Kind of disappointing there's nothing new here. I was hoping they would use the anniversary to remaster the ride footage or some new extras. The UK still doesn't have the animated series available yet which is very annoying.

Just sat down to watch BttF and the lighting is flickering like crazy in the first few minutes, between colour and b&w. Never had this issue with other discs I've played. Has anyone else had this issue? I have a Panasonic DP-UB450.

Check your HDMI cable; sounds like it's loose at one of the connection points.

I carried out a pixel refresh on my LG TV and it seemed to resolve the issue!

The original split car one?

I picked up those Zavvi ones with the poster art, I probably would have just gone for the box set with individual cases, but that wasn't out yet. I guess I'll stick with what I got. I do have that original Trilogy set with the sleeves - hate those things.

The German 4K+Blu-ray Trilogy is down to $27. Any news on a 40th anniversary release?

Did anyone here see the IMAX restoration shown at the TCM Festival? Is it just the UHD master, but in IMAX?

Great Scott! Hot Wheels celebrates a red-letter date in the history of science, and the 40th Anniversary of Back to the Future. This iconic scene features the Time Machine and, for the first time, Doc’s GMC Value Van – both featuring die-cast construction and Real Riders wheels. Our interactive outer box lets you unfold a ramp from the side, so you can slide out the diorama package just like the Time Machine itself being unloaded for its attempt at the world’s first temporal displacement.

I was looking at the coming soon section on IMAX's website today and there is no movie listed for the week of October 17. We know that Universal premiered a new IMAX restoration at the TCM Classic Film Festival in April, Back To The Future Day is during that week (October 21), and Universal usually has one of the Back To The Future movies re-released in theaters on Back To The Future Day...
