Same here. I love the original BTTF and original Jurassic Park and would rather just own the originals than the sequels to both (BTTF Part 2 & 3, Lost World, JP3, World) that I don't like as much. I hope one day they just release each film individually.

Excellent news! Will definitely go with the steenboks (despite their ugliness) as I just cannot abide digibook paper sleeves.

Am I the only one who thinks the steels are all sorts of yummyness? I love them.

Agreed. I don’t collect steelbooks and always opt for the non steelbook version if I have a choice BUT....since I detest the design of the slip case they are doing here again for the packaging like the 30th Anniversary set, I will be going the Steelbook route. Now if only they were stainless steel!

cover art is awful, however they're not going to use the original poster art. Usually when they reissue a film they want it to look different than the previous editions

I still think the packaging to beat is the "Back to the Future: The Complete Adventures Limited Edition" release:

Having said that, this release isn't terrible looking. The steelbooks are a better concept than in execution, and the basic cover art with the heads up top, the logo in the middle and the time machine driving off at the bottom is probably the best one.

Personally, I loved the prominent use of white on The Complete Adventures release and how the complete animated series was worked in. It's a shame they didn't include the animated series here, either with the same DVDs or as an SD on Blu-ray single disc release.

I’m wondering how the BB Steels are going to be laid out. Will it be like the recent target Hunger Games steel collection with them just thrown in a box or more like BB’s other collections that are housed in foam slots? Hope it’s the latter, but I’ll probably get the steels all the same, and just be super careful with them if they aren’t separated.

Looking through the database it seems the closest to simply using the theatrical art were the JP 2012 singles. That's all I want from BTTF packaging.

Especially the art of the actual steelbooks, it's one thing to have the spines of separate releases to make a full picture, but why on earth would you do that for the front covers?

So if I'm reading the press release correctly, it features:

1) Only 2 of the Animated Series episodes
2) Original 2.0 audio(although possibly lossy)
3) No additional Eric Stoltz footage
4) Dolby Vision & HDR10+

I bet they've unearthed more footage where Marty goes back in time and sees the ark of the covenant. This must be what they mean by ultimate trilogy.

That would certainly give new meaning to the title BACK to the future.

Frankly, I don't like any of the designs so far, to the point where they're causing me to consider whether I want to purchase.

Also, in what way is it the 'ultimate trilogy'. It's the same trilogy of films it's always been. 'Ultimate edition' would be something else.

Just sloppy stuff for a release that deserves so much better.

Desk
I think this release is quite good actually. All the bonus stuff ported over with new stuff added. I didn't think they would release any new stuff. Plus, the cover art's not too terrible. And the trilogy will be in 4K and most likely look the best it's ever looked on home video. To finally get a good home video release is the REAL reason to buy this set. We've only waited 35 years.

The box doesn't look big enough to have much in between them like those other sets.

So odd how many steelbook promo pics don't bother showing what art is on the back. Do they think no one cares?

Even if it's lossy, I'm over the moon with it being included. At least they're making an effort to include OG audio, which is more than I can say for most studios

Oh, definitely. I'm very happy about this. I only wish they did the same for The Blues Brothers. And the jury's still out on Psycho.
