Me too, I figured at that price I’d take the risk

Sucks that happened to Stoltz but some actors and crew on that film and some kind of wonderful said he was difficult to work with at times with his method acting which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Bottom line he wasn't a comedian and was removed. Stoltz said himself he has mellowed out since then.

Every cardboard sleeved Blu set I've bought had scratched discs on some or all of the discs.

It can happen.

He just wasn't right for the role. MJF had a somewhat wide eyed everyman quality to his acting that Stoltz did not have here. Just the wrong fit. Good thing he was replaced even if they reshot most of the film to do it.

Don't know where you got the idea they aren't stacked. The stupid packaging options for all Back to the Future sets are getting old. Keep it simple and dump digibooks and steelbooks.

Honestly they used Stoltz, knowing he wasn't right for the role. They wanted MJF from the start, but he wasn't available. So they sabotaged it knowing they'd start over when MJF was available.

What he said. Streaming is inferior to physical copies.

No, they tried to make the best of the situation they were in at the time. They were lucky Gary David Goldberg finally gave in and let the team have Michael.

I just found out the Amazon exclusive is sold out. I didn't realize it would sell out so quickly. Hope it comes back in stock.

If I didn't have an Apple TV 4K and streaming from iTunes, I'd buy the discs in a heartbeat. But I've watched NUMEROUS 4K presentations via Apple TV 4K and iTunes and they look and sound fantastic.

Besides, the iTunes upgrades to 4K will be FREE. It will cost me NOTHING to check them out.

Of the options available (not saying much) I think the steelbook has the best art.

But the scale of MJF's head looks off.

I know this isn't a popular opinion around here, which I get because we're on Blu-Ray.com which is obviously about the physical discs, but I think UHD streaming is pretty damn great. I've spot-checked UHD streaming versus the disc on some of my movies and I couldn't really tell the difference from my normal viewing space. Maybe if I had a 4K UHD projector, it'd be different.

I still go for discs usually, unless the digital option is really cheap. I won't say no to digital when it goes on sale for 10 bucks or less and the disc is still going for 20-30 bucks. The only exception I made to that rule was Jaws, one of my favorites. I almost bought it on VUDU 4K for 7.99, but it's Jaws so I coughed up the money for the disc anyway.

It may not be a sure thing that iTunes will get Back to the Future in 4K. While Universal has released most of their new and recently reissued films like 1917 and Jaws on iTunes in 4K, other releases like The Blues Brothers, Spartacus, and Straight Outta Compton are only HD at this time.

I still can't get over the covers. Especially the goofy expressions on Doc and Biff's faces. someone really sat at their computer and got up and said "yeah this is it!"

Anyway, do we think the Amazon hoverboard version will go any lower in price by release date?
