You're right, it was him and every other clueless goon who wouldn't know what film looked like if it smacked them in the face with a wet haddock.

I don’t know brah, you liking the look of Aliens on Blu sure brings into question this whole “what film looked like.”

Not that I need to defend Geoff or anything, but you can be aware of revisions to a transfer like Aliens and still like it, even if you’re aware that it isn’t the most “true to the original theatrical presentation” remaster that ever was. Personally I think it’s too teal and I’m iffy on the entire Lowry degrain and regrain process, but for what it was it’s pretty impressive. It’s certainly better than whatever the hell happened to T2 recently.

The funny thing is, the last time I watched Aliens it was a scan of a 35mm print. So much blue, same with the print scan of T2. Dat Cameron blue

Going back to older versions - warts and all is more pleasant for me. What can I say... I don't like the darkness.
The blacks are "too black", are the blacks crushed at all?

Not if one is going to lecture someone what film looks like Aliens couldn’t look further from an actual 35mm print or from any film in general if it smacked them in the face with a wet haddock. But of course Geoff is free to like whatever he wants.

Alas, I never said it looked like the actual 35mm print or exactly like film in general though, the difference is that I know what it is (extensively processed Lowry degrain/regrain jobbie) and I still enjoy it immensely. Crazy thing is, I recall someone else drooling all over the UHD of T2 and giving everyone loads of pushback when they were complaining about it, this person was continually eulogising about Jim Cameron's "state of the art" processing and whatnot. Can't think who it was though...

But you see, it’s the worst 180 “of all time.” Nothing I do will ever be half arsed.

The basic set just dropped to $30. Is this worth getting? I've held out and still have the BD set, but I'm debating upgrading this. Can anyone talk me into buying this?
