Those who are almost skint but have an iTunes account in the UK. The trilogy is £9.99 (that's £3.33 per film). Got upgraded to 4K DV DA today. Make sure you watch via ATV as Apple have throttled the bit rates on iTunes movies streamed on a non-ATV box.

Cost me $0, I used my Amazon Rewards points

Started digging into the impressive Special Features last night. They were so extensive I saw the same interviews with Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis twice, in two separate featurettes.

Yeah, that's why the clamour for MOAR EXTRAS on re-releases like this is a wee bit unnecessary, they can only tell the same stories so many times, even when they're not repeating the exact same interview the participants just tell the same anecdotes (some literally word for word) in other interviews anyway.

My Gruv order is at the warehouse, but I picked up the Best Buy steelbook just in case (before I knew Gruv was following through). $10 is $10, but I love the steelbooks...hmmm

Rain on the face on 2 and the bandana on 3 just prove how bad the old discs were.
Mind you they should have been a home run

Woah. That is shocking. I can't get over how dark the BD were

Err, that's what sharpness is. There is no analog sharpness to a digital image.

It's called out when it's over done (as you say, bad transfer). When it's done right, you don't notice it.

With a television setting (as oppose to sharpening during disc mastering), it's best to have a low setting, or nothing at all if that's your thing, but I stop short at telling everyone to never use it.

My Risotto al Forno steelbooks were hanging in the limbo. Luckily, the Italians dropped the price on the steelbooks even more than the good early bird price. So I cancelled and reordered. Now it says, delivery by Tuesday.

To those who asked why I didn't just open the damaged product and watch those until the replacement arrived - this is my favorite movie. It may be silly, but the experience of getting a destroyed product really was a let down. I want to be excited when I sit down to watch this. So that's why!

If I still had my Sony X700, I’d likely still be backing up my movies too.

That was such an unreliable player. I guess the x800M2 do over could be better but no way I would risk it.

What’s lost in opening the damaged one and enjoying the movie?

Are you one of those slip cover guys?

The packaging must be in mint condition or the movie is broken?

This set will easily make many people's top 10 lists of best-looking UHDs ever - it's certainly ranked pretty high on my list. Wow. But I wish Universal would come up with a better way to house the discs - those tight pockets are a nightmare. I love the look and feel of the hard case digibook but this is just the wrong way to store the discs. BTW, the outer slipcover was wrapped in one of those spider things at BB so there were 4 dings on it. Thankfully I was planning on ditching the slip anyway but that was stupid of BB.

Your disc likely has a pressing defect where some pits are unreadable (the layers may be touching each other in one spot or another). Request a replacement from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

By some stroke of luck I received my Hoverboard Edition from Amazon Canada yesterday, I pre-ordered August 25th and only paid $66 CAD, less than what the standard set is going for now. The mini hoverboard display is actually awesome, way cooler than I thought it would be.

I only watched the first film, as others have said, it's like seeing it for the first time. It's like wiping haze off a window, everything just looks clearer and more natural compared to the old BD which I have watched many times. I can't say I ever noticed the black stripes at the top of Marty's red "zoot suit" tie before, or the diamond pattern at the top of Lorraine's dress.

I agree with poster KMFDM about the audio, I also noticed the lack of bass upon the first startup of the DeLorean in the back of Doc's van. On the flip side I felt the bass was ramped up in the final sequence, particularly when the "fire trails" start behind the tires of the DeLorean. Dynamics did seem lacking in the beginning, but seemed to even out as the film progressed. Could have just been my imagination.

The first instance of Power of Love also sounded a little off, but the second instance and subsequent music was fantastic. I also thought the high end of the mix sounded a bit hot, maybe exaggerated by my system since I run "Flat" EQ. Overall I was very happy with the Atmos.

Unlike some here I am a fan of all 3 films, can't wait to check out the sequels as they sound like the biggest upgrades.
