Maybe cause people had gone to movie and talked about it? I don't remember that, I went on opening weekend and knew there would be a third from a show I watched but didn't know they filmed back to back or there would be a trailer for the 3rd(I'm sure the filming back to back part was out there I just didn't know)

No. The only way to order their titles here would be to use a package forwarding service.

Oh wow, that French set looks amazing! Do I really need to order it? Realistically, no. Did I still order it? Yes, yes I did.

Ugh, well that's the more annoying part - I have it shipping to a friend in the UK, which amazon.fr will happily do. I wish I could just have it sent directly to me! Maybe they'll open things up more between now and then so those of us in the US can have it sent to us.

Gotcha. I found a link at FNAC.com, and they still ship to the U.S., but it’s not available for pre-order yet. I want that set BADLY!

Oooh, let me know if you see that link go live! I did check them, but it didn't seem like I could order, so I just went the route of shipping to the UK.

I don't know why anyone would spend $30 on a toy hoverboard, when for a measly $999, you can have the real thing! It is only $633.47 if you order it direct from the company website.

I especially enjoyed reading the 18 answered questions.

So I've literally just now seen that Europe and Japan (and possibly elsewhere) are getting this as a dual digipack edition.

Why the hell can't we have that in the USA?!?!?!

I want to buy the US discs, especially for the 2.0 tracks, but I don't like either the "book" packaging or the SteelBook artwork (and I'm concerned about the bonus disc in the latter set).

2.0 tracks? And we're sure they're not just commentaries?

The press release says the US discs have English: Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks on the UHD and BD discs. While it's not clear that these are the original stereo tracks, I have no idea why Universal would include them otherwise.

They are apparently not on the European or Japanese editions.

Surely this isn't true.
Were they just left off the specs listed? Or is it due to other audio languages being included there?

The discs aren't out until October, so we have no idea. But as much as discs like Jaws and E.T. have legacy audio mixes, so have there been many releases where only the North American editions got them, though far less often (possibly never, so far) on UHD BD thanks to the increasingly common use of globalized discs. Unlike most releases however, with this one Universal has to split the language package up over a few territories, for example, the Germans get German: Dolby Atmos tracks as well as English, and the Japanese sets have three different lossy Japanese dub tracks.

I think because this is such a big release, it's entirely possible the 2.0 tracks could be on all editions, which might explain why they are only lossy Dolby Digital and not even lossy DTS tracks. But, we'll have to see--and remember, we don't even know for certain what these 2.0 tracks are, just that they were mentioned on the US press release as being on both the UHD and remastered Blu-rays.

Any source for the Japanese version?

By the way, in Germany, an additional trilogy of steelbooks is announced for November in "Japanese design", whatever that might be.

I guess, if these really were meaning commentaries, they would have listed more than one of the 2.0 tracks (as each movie has actually two of the commentaries).

Actually, Jaws is a good example: in Germany, there was a specific disc for the German market (containing German and English in Atmos), but it still did contain the English mono.

Yesterday I had a pleasure to see Back to the Future in cinema, 35mm print. It was in Dolby Stereo and I was wondering if something could be wrong with sound processing or not. So before I have only watched BTTF in 5.1 version, the helicopter at the end makes a circle all over the speakers, yet in cinema it was only in front. So right now I'm wondering how it supposed to sound. Should the sound come from surrounds in stereo version or not?
