I guess I like the sequels enough (though definitely not as good as the first film) to stick with the trilogy releases. Goodness knows with the state of the world if they will actually create individual packaging this time.

I'm so glad that I backup discs to my server. I never have to worry about cover art, all the physical media sits in a box in the basement.

Let's hope the Nordic edition will get a nice standard packaging again like with the Hitchcock 4K box.

I haven’t really followed the thread but curious as for the original Stereo audio (as long as it is true original stereo and NOT a fold down) is the compressed Dolby Digital 2.0 (640kbps) adequate? I feel all three films would benefit from an uncompressed PCM 2.0 stereo option.

I’ve never seeen the trilogy released as separate movies on disc here in the United States. Yes, I know America is not the world (according to Morrissey), but it’s odd to have the movies separated from each other at this point. They simply belong together.

They were released separately on DVD (after the box set).

And I see that move wasn’t repeated on disc since. I’m guessing it wasn’t very profitable for Universal in this day & age as opposed to releasing the 3 together so they probably stopped.

Is it just me, or does it appear that this set is going to come in the same (oft criticized, especially here recently), paper slipcase packaging like the Hitchcock Classics 4K Collection?

It looks like it. Ugh. I just sold the original blu-ray set with that awful packaging and now I'm upgrading to more garbage.

I went with the Best Buy steelbook exclusive to avoid that booklet style packaging.

Agreed. I did the same. After seeing the terrible job on the Hitchcock cardboard set.....no way am I going to purchase the booklet style. Discs poking out the side and tightly in the cardboard sleeves. Cant stand the cardboard packaging.

To those that think sleeves aren't a problem, here's a recent comment form the Alfred Hitchcock UHD thread (that set uses sleeves too):

"On the subject of scratches, I had a real doozy with Psycho. My 4K copy wouldn't play. Three attempts (the 3rd was hours later after I'd given up the first 2 times) and nothing. All I got was a black screen, the timer on the readout reading all zeros and a strip of pixels in color across the top of the screen. I take the disc out and there was a large smudge or scratch across the disc and a fingerprint at the edge. That mark wasn't there when I first popped the disc in. I grabbed a microfiber cloth, cleaned the disc until it looked brand new again and popped it in again. It played and I was able to enjoy the movie. Bottom line: it appears either these discs will be especially susceptible to damage or the pockets are just too damn tight - or both! Now I have to be super careful when I pull the discs out."
