I'm going to need a bigger <s>boat</s> movie shelf. (Yes, I'm aware the strikethrough tag doesn't actually work)

Amblin's Twitter account already confirmed a physical release a couple weeks ago.

I had already assumed the trilogy would arrive on 4K disc in 2020, but I'm really wanting to know the release date, people are saying things here without offering proof. And we're just supposed to believe it?

You dont need proof, when you have a track record.
You dont belive it, thats your problem.

Dean Cundey supervised the new transfer for The Thing, surely, why wouldn't he be involved or Zemeckis for the 4K edition of BTTF?!

Zemeckis and Cundey weren't involved in the prior transfer AFAIK, Bob Gale is the steward of BTTF. I think Cundey would love to have a look see, if his involvement with transfers of several other movies of his is any indication, but Zemeckis is a curious one, he seems to want to leave BTTF behind and seems rather tired of even talking about it.

HOPEFULLY Uni get them both on board rather than just leaving it all up to Gale.

Are we even sure it's a new transfer?

Having read his written afterword for the book "Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History" by Michael Klastorin with Randal Atamaniuk, I don't get that vibe at all. Plus, he is involved in the upcoming musical version.

Keep Dean Cudney far away from this! His old eyes are doing no favors for color-timing!

Then let us hope that he's part of the 4K restoration (though secretly I think he'd rather have them converted to 3D than 4K).

As co-author, I can confirm that Bob Z. certainly has a say in the what happens with the franchise, however he does let Bob G. take the reigns at the start of each new endeavor.

Because The Thing shows he needs a grown up to hold his hand and get it right

The creation of this thread, the multiple confirmations herein, and probably the most obvious, the news article that has been posted on the front page of this very website since October 21: Universal: Back to the Future Trilogy Coming to 4K Blu-ray in 2020 are all proof. What more are you looking for?!

But if they hit 88 and go back in time they may change the future and it’ll be digital only...oh man this is heavy...
