I thought Part III looked most tempered with of all - some weird instances of grain removal where you wouldn't expect it. For example, at the train station where they ask the guy how fast the train can go. Tremendous amount of details, but no grain at all, and Doc's face looks a bit on a plasticky side. Basically, what Gale wants with these movies - they should look as they were filmed yesterday on digital camera - with tremendous amount of details. but no grain where possible, and he best succeeds with Part III.

I thought Part I looked the most unprocessed.

I agree that Part I had the most naturally grainy look, but the HDR and detail really popped in Part III.

Yes, Dolby Vision gives night scenes in Part III such a breathtaking quality never seen before. But boy, that's why it is so painful to go back to some other scenes which don't have grain at all - I mean they look so unbelievaby detailed and sharp (not artificially sharpened though!), but I just wish they had left some more grain to make it look like the 90's movie, where this belongs. In this regard, Part I was the most consistant to my eye.

They’ve been fantastic for me. A few delays here and there of course, but usually either on time or a day or two early. BTTF 4K set to arrive tomorrow, a day early!

Both Target and Best Buy will have the regular 4k edition in store.

Obviously we all have different experiences and some here are more happy with the way part 1 looks. I should emphasise how much better it is than the blu-ray. I wish it was perfect, who doesn't. Some seem to think it's pretty close - and you might too. so i'd take my opinion with a grain of salt as it might not reflect your experience.
Great player! I don't think that is the problem since the video board is largely based on the Oppo 203.

Looking at the caps from caps-a-holic they did a great job with the HDR and know how to properly use it! Unlike the 007 Daniel Craig 4K's where there was no HDR to be found and the picture was just washed out and dull.

How can you tell what the HDR is like with HDR converted to SDR captures? granted you can see that the new release isn't as nuked as the old one, but not the true extent of the higher dynamic range.

hoejunter thanks for the heads up regarding the hoverboard edition. Yes it is nice to have, but not at the price premium, like the beetlejuice joke price edition

In France, steelbook version was 75€ and hoverboard was 120€ or 130€. Imagine the difference of price just for that little gadget.

EDIT: Look at this video:
That little gadget isn't new.

I'm not a fan of the flimsy steelbook outer box. Anyone think the LOTR/Hobbit sets will be similar because that would suck....

The press release photos would indicate otherwise.
