This kind of chopping doesn't really work.

Works for me! I rarely look at the back (which IS badly chopped), and the spine and front look great! I did the same thing with ALIEN UHD and with STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN BD.

My Walmart pickup order isn't ready yet but it says it will be ready to pickup before 8pm so hopefully I can get my hands on a copy today!
Just got notified that my walmart order was canceled, "We're very sorry, but due to high demand, we were unable to fulfill the items listed and had to cancel them."

Also, it appears that in store pickup is no longer an option for this.

I'm waiting till tomorrow to get it. Usually get movies during my prep period (I'm a teacher). My prep period is the same time my local Best Buy opens. I'm seeing if they will have it. Lately, they haven't had any new releases. Anyone else notice their Best Buy has been terrible with new release stock??

Got my set in and lo and behold, part 1 was loose in the case ( got the steelbook). Thankfully no scratches.

This is a 3-disc UHD case, so I'll store the 4K disc of the first movie only, along with the new BD of the first movie and a disc of extras. 1.21 gigawatts????
You should check around the custom cover sites, someone is bound to be producing a cover for people who want to split up the set. I used to build custom covers in Photoshop CS6 but it has been several years.

Funny people say 2 is the weakest for the video quality. When I've never seen it look better resolved than this.

On to three.

Thank you, sincerely, but this solution really is perfectly fine for me and I just frankly don't want to be bothered with putting more effort into it. I don't have the least bit of problem with my chopped dvd slip, like others have. I "get" why it doesn't work for everyone; I certainly see where stuff is cut off (obviously; I did the cutting!), but it just doesn't bug me. Like I said, I did the same thing with the ALIEN and STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN dvd art, with similar results. <shrug> Different things bother different people, and this makes it wayyyy better for me than using the art we're given, or in the case of BTTF having a whole boxed set in which I only enjoy ONE of the movies.

Just read there's HDR10+ on these discs. Can anyone speak to how the HDR10+ looks?

If you have Dolby Vision you've got the Real McCoy, and the best. I wouldn't even thing about how the HDR10+ look.

The film stocks got better from the first movie to the second (1985 to 1989). We can see the first film can't be as sharp and have higher grain in night scenes (look the shopping center parking area when the doctror made the time travel experiment).

But the scond movie have a lot of effect, optical, computer used just to operate motion controll camera. Many scenes with optical effects are very well made and do not look like a scene with effects, like the dinner ssene when Michael J. Fox plays 3 characters on table, by all optical effects made with help of motion controll and finished in a optical printer.
These effects have some degradfation of image, and that's why some people may confuse it with scanning or mastering quality to blu ray, but its just a natural consequence of optical effects.
The 3D Shark attack it's probabloy the only CGI in the film.

Watching 3, and indeed it's the best looking. But it's more than just fillm stock. Baked in light, so many objects that the 4K brings out so much textural detail in.

There were several moments in Part III that really took my breath away with this new disc. What a treat to see the film looking so wonderful after all these years.
