However, the Ducky & Bunny scenes attacking the old lady almost made the whole thing worth it. The movie kind of works as an Epilogue if you can train your brain that way. |

Recently had a chance to revisit these on 4k with my wife. They all look fantastic, especially part III!

Back on topic, I watched Back to the Future Part II last night and saw new minute details I haven't seen before. Such as small Glint/light on door frames when they open the car doors. This is one heck of a 4K presentation. It may not be able to go toe to toe with some of the best 4K presentations out there, but it most certainly holds its own. |

So I've just compared both the 2015 and 2020 SDR releases on a 55" reference screen.
They added image post-stabilization (missing the Cattle Queen of Montana sign however haha), and colors do look better (the yellows being less greenish and more reddish), with brightness adjusted on most scenes on the HDR scan with even some physical light equipment erased (on the left of the characters closeup after Einstein time travel with an image portion nearby tracked and pasted over several times). The heavy degrain is the worst part about this release. 4K scan does add more resolution, but the grain looks rainbow and blurred, very VHS. It kills the sharpness in comparison. The grain on the Twin Pine Mall sign or any face closeup is very obvious of the quality degradation between the releases. My advice would be not to get rid of the 2015 release until a better master with the actual grading is done in 2025 or 2030. Also the French dubbing is left with many errors introduced since the DVD release and remains unfixed, especially in Part III. Some audio cues are missing (or even muted compared to the original track) and the beginning of Part III (adding the end of Part II) was left not dubbed, so there are now three different audios for that clocktower scene with bothering differences that play throughout the trilogy. It was acceptable since Part I and II were in different timelines ![]() |

When I say "issue" I mean problems using this kind of software handling the discs. That often happen, yet with recent versions of these tools, they shouldn't be there, unless the distributor did a relevant change in their discs. The reasons can be many: a) a bug from the decryption software (A/V sync issues were found in one of them, because of the Atmos track, and it's currently being fixed), b) a single defective disc that needs to be replaced by the distributor, so the buyer had a bad luck (maybe a scratch?), or c) something less likely, yet also common, ALL buyers (or a good number) received defective discs and a recall needs to be done. I am betting c) could be happening. One user posted this in that forum, and I wanted to ask here if it's true: ******** A lot of people have had issues with this set. Most people report that an extreme cleaning the of discs has resolved their issues. Some people have had success turning the speed control off/down in the registry, although if you've never set this in the past it wont be causing an issue. Some people have had success removing and re-applying the power to the drive whilst the computer is turned on and the disc loaded. I had success trying a different firmware (WH16NS60 1.02) on my drive. ******** Also note I am talking about using a PC to handle UHD discs, not the usual players people here comment. Even so, user ilovedealsbaby posted in this thread: ***** my back to the future 1 disc goes all pixeled at around 40 min any one else have this? ***** Lysander91 replied: I had the same issue at about 48 minutes, but I cleaned the disc and it worked the second go. Disc looked spotless beforehand, so I'm crossing my fingers that it was just a spec of dust. User nvadr also posted: Back to the Future Part II 4k disc there is some serious video glitching at 43:35 which continues until 47:09 where my UDP-203 player freezes up. Bijouman replied: Your disc likely has a pressing defect where some pits are unreadable (the layers may be touching each other in one spot or another). Request a replacement from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. User Indiana Jones said: Many people have experienced issues but by all accounts its not a faulty disc issue so there won't be a replacement scheme. So what's going on here? |

Mine came today. If it was a sale, wonderful (and I'll continue to look for more). If it was an error, they honored it and should be commended for that. For $10, I was happy to wait.
