I received my "normal" version in the book packaging that made Hitchcock fans lose it. I think I was lucky, it is in absolute mint condition and looks fantastic, just like my copy of Hitch.

I don't understand why you would put together a nice set like this and ruin it with the junk, flimsy cardboard slipcase. How much more would it really cost for a sturdy cardboard case.

I gotta send mine back.
Two of the disks are skipping. Not a single flaw on any.

I wanted this but I'll wait till I can get it for $30-, even if it is one of my favourite trilogies of all-time.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this earlier in the 300+ pages of this thread, but instead of getting the collector's edition, I got the normal set and ordered a hoverboard from the company directly, which arrived immediately before this set even came out:

Watched the trilogy today? Very nostalgic. But geez I'm now a crotchety old man watching it, as opposed to the teen when I saw and loved these back in 80s 90s. And my preference of dev totally flipped. I honestly like #3 best of the series now. And on the crotchety side, I was really irritated by too much stupidity in #1, like the idiotic video taping of the first 1 minute time jump, where for absolutely zero story purpose, Doc Brown insisted they stand in front of the path of the car to videotape it, then they of course nearly forget to leap out of the way a minute later when it suddenly appears. This was just so needlessly stupid I was really getting annoyed. And the wire getting pulled out at the end. Conversely, that whole train sequence at the end of third was well written, choreographed and pretty tense.

Heh sometimes you can’t or shouldn’t go back. Had a similar experience with The Goonies.. loved it when I was kid. Now it’s 2 hours of kids screaming all of they’re dialog at each other, usually in an echo chamber. Makes me want a drink just thinking of it. My poor parents, that was on the tv a lot lol.

I don't know if this has been asked and answered before, so here's my question:

- Since I have both the UHD/4K and the Blu-ray 1080p, I was able to compare how they sound, and so far (until now - I have yet to check all 3 movies thoroughly) I only detected a slight difference that may not have been a modified sound effect, but instead how the Dolby Atmos is different when compared to the DTS-HD MA 5.1 track.

The short trailer Universal put in their Youtube channel also has this difference.

In the 2nd movie, right at the beginning, when the Delorean is flying for 2015, and after Biff says "a flying Delorean?", we see a repeated scene from the 1st movie (same footage). It's right at THIS moment the Delorean sound effect is different...

Compared to the 1080p one (DTS-HD MA 5.1).

So, has Universal MODIFIED this sound effect?

It will go to a friend in the UK otherwise, which is fine, but I'd rather have it ship directly to me if possible. I just watched an unboxing of the French version and it looks great!
I have the Delorean, Tin and Flux Capacitor set... I couldn’t not get the Time Circuits.

I never know what's going to hold up for me. I'm 48, so I was a kid during the 80s. The Goonies, ET, Star Wars (OT), Gremlins -- they all held up on recent revisits. Indiana Jones, surprisingly, did not --- not that I don't enjoy them, but they've lost their impact. I have my Back to the Future coming today, so it's anyone's guess how I'll feel about them today.

Back to the Future still hits me square in the feels, I like it even more as an adult. Part II I've never been crazy about, it depends whether I'm in the mood for a fun but hollow technical exercise as to whether I enjoy it or not. Part III brings the series full circle, it's less about VFX w@nkery and more about story and yes, the train finale is one of the last great set pieces of the practical era.

Doc Brown does reckless stuff like that in ALL the movies, though!

At the end of Part I and start of Part II, why does he fly into the air on a populated street? Why does he time jump into what he KNOWS will be rush hour flying traffic in 2015? Why does he jump back to 1985 while flying? Why not just drive? In Part III, why does 1955 Doc insist Marty get up to 88 miles per hour in a drive-in theater surrounded by a wall that CLEARLY doesn't have enough room and in an area that has wild brush everywhere and uneven terrain that will damage the car?

The reason it happens is because it helps illuminate character, not story or plot. The Doc is a slightly unhinged guy. He's got a screw loose. He's a mad scientist. The movies are also supposed to zany. So, it's the tone, too.

These are deliberate choices by Zemeckis and Gale. I've learned that insisting characters should act 100% logically in a movie is always going to disappoint me. Plus, if you think about it, people don't even act that way in real life. People do reckless, dumb things all the time that make no logical sense!

Got the set on Amazon for $30.99 when the price matched Walmart for about an hour. Been watching it. Now sure what people are complaining about. No freezing for me. But I do think some of the effects are so sharp they make them look a bit cartoonish. Also, I had to make my tv brightness a bit higher because the first movie was really dark versus earlier versions. But overall I’m liking what I see. Just wish they’d used a digibook and not the style of storing the movies that they have. It’s like you have to wash your hands before taking a disc out just to make sure you don’t get any oil from your fingers on it. Still, it’s a good deal at $31!

That actually makes me like it less. One type of character in film that irritates me is the stupid smart person, why i can't stand Day of the Dead, Mary Shelly's Frankenstein (I can reanimate a corpse with electricity. Someone I love dies so I use electricity to revive her. Wait, no. I'll saw her head off, saw the head off an old corpse, and see her head into the corpse and THEN reanimate that, so when she awakens, instead of just being in her body, she finds herself as a head attached to a rotting corpse. That sounds like a better plan), Pet Sematary ( a doctor vet, reanimates a cat. Cat is evil. Reanimates wife. Wife evil. Reanimates kid. Kid evil. I'd have figured it out after cat... The remake was so much better).

Excellent! I have the Flux Capacitor set (pretty sure I'll be keeping it, too) and had either the 25th or 30th Anniversary sets (maybe both??) before that, not to mention DVD and VHS. I'm very happy I was able to snag the Time Circuits set, too!

Agreed! The first film holds such a great place in my heart as we had it on VHS when I was a kid and I watched it very regularly. All three of them, but especially the first one, are films that I will almost always stop and watch if I catch them on TV, even though I own them all on BD (and soon to be 4K).
