How about Dave saying he always wears a suit to the office? It's Saturday. Why is he going to work? And why do Marty's successful older siblings still live at home? Speaking of homes, the parents have successful jobs but live in the same house they lived in when George had a lousy job...
That's the problem with watching your favorite movies repeatedly. You start to notice things like that (just noticed the other day the kid (Melvin) in Tremors has no parents). |

Here are my thoughts on a couple of them.
Quote:
She emphasizes it's his first novel, so I just figured he had stuck with short stories (like in high school) and articles before that. |

And Marty's siblings are in their mid-20's at latest, so living at home after college a few years wasn't unheard of then. |

As to the claim they shouldn't be living there anymore, they DO have a nicely appointed house so this idea there is incongruence that they didn't trade up location? It seems like they aren't "rich" but are 'successful'... meaning happy as middle class, comfortable living. I think the messaging is they are simply NOT unhappy and scraping by on subsistence lower-middle class mediocrity any longer, due to George standing up for himself and forging confidence to succeed. Again success not equating to riches necesarily. That car seems like their one single *uber* indulgence in life. Plus being able to easily swing buying the 4x4 for Marty as well... |

Also, do people generally think BttF looks too dark? Or does it just depend on your set? I would think top sets look pretty good with it. |

I must say I'm disappointed. The UHD is certainly a better scan, has its grain mostly intact and all but the colors are just off for me. The whole pallet tonality is very "contrasty". The blacks are "too black" if you can call it that and the overall picture isn't as lively as in previous versions. It feels too technically correct for its own good.
Going back to older versions - warts and all is more pleasant for me. What can I say... I don't like the darkness. ![]() |
