Star Wars isn't a trilogy.

It is in fact a trilogy of trilogies. Each set tells a 3 part narrative story.

And yet only one of those movies actually works on its own.

Well, one of the 9 “Skywalker” movies, anyway.

Also, honestly, while I enjoy the trilogy… I think BTTF works much better as a one-off. So glad that “to be continued” card is gone.

I'm still waiting for an individual release of the first movie on 4K. It's the only one I want in my collection. I thought we'd have seen something by now. I know Zaavi had something, but it was impossible to order anything from them. Hopefully, we'll see something soon.

Stop the prequels have their issues but there are some good moments from them. The Yoda fight, darth maul, anakin vs obi wan.

Pretty damn obvious when nothing has remotely has the beyond total cultural take over and impact of the original SW trilogy. Where the first film of which played in theaters practically non-stop for two years (and I mean just everything, everywhere you turned was SW SW SW, every pizza joint was playing the disco cantina song like every other song for months beyond months on end, every little shop in the mall had at least a rack of Star Wars figures displayed at the entrance, where movie toy tie-ins took over the world, you had Star Wars underwear, toothpaste, milk, records, books, bubble gum cards, figures, skis, video games, lunch boxes, flip flops, watches, pens; and the terminology just totally infiltrated general culture for every age range and type and it still here to this day), the second of which is called the greatest sequel of all time and the third of which still made more money than the second. (and then to top it off it is a trilogy of trilogies to boot)

As big as some think the Avengers or LOTR or whatever films were they were like barely existent blips compared to what it was like when Star Wars came out. I mean Avengers did have some sales for two of the films, but the cultural impact was like zilch compared to how Star Wars just seeped into and took over everything and has still not left after like half a century. I'd put JP influence way above those movies too. I mean all THREE Star Wars trilogies of trilogies each sold more total tickets than the LOTR trilogy. No trilogy comes even remotely close to total ticket sales of the original Star Wars trilogy. I think it is possible that all three SW trilogies had more tickets sold than any other trilogy. Didn't look over the numbers below carefully yet. For the first one that is clearly, instantly obviously true at the least. (Avatar may be way up there once it hits three films though, for tickets sold for a trilogy perhaps it even knocks off the other two Star Wars trilogies, but still even for all it's sales, it really has not remotely taken over culture in any sort of way like SW did. It doesn't have the quotes, toys, talk. I love it, but the cultural take over and impact just isn't even close. Titanic had a pretty huge take over, but just a single film, and still not SW level.) (https://www.boxofficemojo.com/chart/..._gross_to=2019)

As far as literature goes I'd say the LOTR trilogy books are way up there though. I think I'd have to put them as my top literary trilogy for sure.

Would someone be so kind as to check to see if there are credits for the "Doc Brown Saves the World!" short film? If so, does it list the directors? IMDb says Glenn Sanders and Robert Zemeckis directed it, but I'm not sure how accurate this is. I don't remember their names being listed. Thanks!

For me, I miss it every single time . Doesn't matter to me if it was added later or not.. Even though it's such a small thing, I'd love the option to have it back. Oh well.

And SW and LOTR are great, but yes, my fave trilogy would be BTTF.

Pretty sure there isn't 11 minutes of perfection between the lot of them. Never change, Star Wars stans. Never change.

Just checked. There are credits. But it doesn't list a Director. Glenn Sanders is listed as a Producer (along with Brett Levisohn and Thomas Guindon). There's also a "Manager of Production" (Paul Angelikas).

The only credit for Zemeckis is a Special Thanks at the end (along with Bob Gale and a few more names).

I am not talking about impact but about the quality of the films and in my opinion the trilogy of The Dark Knight is no less

For those of us who have no interest in Star Wars movies whatsoever and do not share your reverence for them, please take the discussion elsewhere. There are plenty of threads related to that topic without polluting this one.
