Just done some research and yes they are the remastered bluray's but apparently Universal were putting the old discs in the new packaging when first released. Unless this has been resolved, looks like it's a gamble as to whether I'll get the new discs.

Is the 2020 set still worth 25 bucks?

They're the exact same discs in both sets the new one just has black UHD cases for each of the movies and the old one that's on sale has cardboard slots.

The old case came apart whenever I was careless; I forget if I shared a picture already.

I just finished watching the original film in 4K for the first time, and overall I was very impressed. I've loved it for so many years, and I can quote it like crazy...but it still makes me smile and laugh just the same.

One thing to note, about the colors overall - a lot of them appeared somewhat desaturated, especially in the 1985 scenes. Some were OK, like the McFly dinner scene and the interiors of the high school. But outdoor shots, like Marty's walk through the town square with Jennifer...it just seemed "off" somehow. By the time events switch to 1955, almost every scene pops regularly color-wise...so I'm wondering if that was Zemeckis' intent and the new disc recreated it.

As for the sound, most of it was good - I don't have a home theater system so it all comes from the front. The dialogue was all clear, and most of the songs, but some of the thunderclaps and score in the finale sounded mixed together.

Overall, I give this a solid 4 of 5 from Universal. Looking forward to the others already.

Oh yes same here. BTTF's one of those evergreen titles, like Ghostbusters. It hits the spot on the 58th watch just as much as on the first, if not more. You won't be disappointed with the PQ of the sequels. Not a fan of Part II but the 4K is far and away the most I've ever enjoyed it. The most interesting thing about this new transfer was being able to detect the grain spikes on the trick optical shots where one actor is playing opposite him/herself as another character. The illusion had always been invisible and it made me appreciate the pre-digital FX even more (it makes me wonder how Cronenberg's Dead Ringers would fare in 4K with its own seamless Irons vs. Irons shots, and those pre-date BTTF II!). Part III shines the most with all that brilliantly sunlit outdoor photography. Universal did the series proud with this set.

Fathom Events is bringing Back To The Future Part II back to theaters for its 35th anniversary on October 19 and 21 (Back To The Future Day):
Quote:
Marty McFly and Doc Brown are back! This time they must travel into the future to prevent Marty's kids from getting in danger. From there the time travel gets crazier, with the gang having to make multiple jumps as their trips have a mind-bending effect on history. A cerebral - but still loads of fun - addition to the franchise. Added value includes a movie trailer for the fictional JAWS 19 and a commercial promoting the hoverboard, a solution for transportation; both featured in Back to the Future Part II.
BLMN says it will be a DCP:

Saw 2 in the theater 2 months ago. I *might* see 3 in theaters if they ever play it, just to complete the trilogy.

I hate the old cardboard digibook set. Does the newer US set with the individual cases sold on Amazon have a separate hub for each of the 7 discs, or are they stacked?

Each film has 2 discs, plus there's a 7th bonus disc, so how are those stored?

The first two films each have their own 2-disc case, with a slot on either side. The third film's case has a flipper tray in it.

Theres a little bit of wiggle room, but they are awesome. He makes them so Amarays or steelbooks fit the hard shells.

I just looked over the pics on Etsy, looks like there are slipcovers in the box. I'm guessing those don't come with the box?

Just finished up the trilogy last weekend.

I guess I could say it it was a blind buy because I don’t remember anything about what I saw when these first came out.

What a fun trilogy though! I’m not a big fan of time travel movies, but these were just done so well - a lot of fun! I enjoyed the acting, especially crazy Doc, the plots, the old timey simple days setting, the fact that they are family friendly. They just don’t make them like this anymore.

It comes with the box and 3 hardshell cases similar to the Screamfactory Halloween 4Ks. You can put Amaray or steelbooks in the cases.
