Honestly, **** the extras.

If they fix the DNR'd reel and give us an OG audio option (in lieu of stereo, I'll even take the DVD's 5.1 tracks) I'll bite.

By the way, are the DVDs 5.1 tracks any different from the 2010 BDs 5.1 tracks?

I think so... although I could be getting confused with something else.

Someone will know.

Laserdisc stereo is the safest bet, but no way would Universal go near that.

BTTF is one of my favorite trilogies / series!

I love the Best Buy steelbook set from 2020 I have though.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Back-...lu-ray/273622/

Don’t think I really need anything else unless PQ is better. The double and triple dipping for some of these classics gets expensive!

Consider the fact Universal has been releasing on physical media EVERY 5 YEARS with new contents, it shouldn't be a surprise.

Limited-edition premium giftset in a one-time build. Universal will only manufacture 5,000 units worldwide. Giftset includes an exclusive mini-Gibson guitar (design only available in this giftset), SteelBook, booklet featuring behind the scenes information, certificate of authenticity, a full-size OUTOFTIME license plate, license plate stickers, and (13) paper prop replicas featured in the Back to the Future trilogy!
I really hope they fix the image problems on BTTF, but I'm not holding my breath!

The mini-Gibson guitar that's mentioned above is probably a ES-345 version of this ES-335 with gold-plated Maestro Vibrola hardware added seen here:

https://store.axeheaven.com/collecti...i-guitar-model

And I'm willing to bet some of those 13 paper prop replicas might be like these that I made back in 2021 for a friend of mine. Though, they'll presumably also include stuff from the sequels like the USA Today newspaper, the sports almanac, Old Marty's "you're fired" fax, Biff's matchbook, the photo of Doc's gravestone, etc. That would be cool.

Why did you have to make it tho? Some of that tat has been floating around for years in various editions, there was the UK tin Blu-ray version from years ago and more recently the Time Circuits set for the 4K. The photo of the McFly kids is lenticular too.

That's cool! Yeah, I understand that... and there's nothing wrong with acquiring that stuff like that.

The answer is because I've been making these types of movie props since I was a kid. It's fun, I like to do it. And there's plenty of resources out there to help you do it right and accurately (like the RPF). And in this particular case, I was putting together a birthday present for an old friend (and also as a special thanks for helping me with something). I'd acquired an extra BTTF Trilogy 4K UHD set from GRUV for $10 and decided to add some extra stuff to it, along with an OUTATIME license plate and a NECA Marty Figure for his kid.

It was just to put an extra personal stamp on the gift, that's all.

It's one of Universal's "tasteful DNR" jobs. Not everyone is bothered by it, but some of us feel there is room for improvement.

A brand New 4K DCP for the first movie premiered in April at TCM Festival (along with a new restoration of Ben Hur)

Didn't they just call it "IMAX restoration"? Could be the same restoration, but in IMAX.

That said, I agree that we can hope and believe.

I wouldn't use the word "restoration" anyway for a 1985 movie...

Still Universal could have fixed some issues silently before creating a brand new IMAX DCP....

The 'vanishing family' lenticular is just about the coolest bit of tat I've seen in a collector's set. If you asked me to describe the contents of the set I'd say "3 films, a really cool lenticular and a bunch of other stuff I haven't looked at"

I'm a sucker for this film, so this other set Mifune mentions is tickling my fancy somewhat
