But won't that be designated as 2.0 Dolby Surround on Blu-Ray?

It is sad how Stoltz was treated and I know Fox was always the original choice, it doesn’t excuse how Zemeckis treated him on set and after. Fox brought the right tone for the movie but I feel like Stoltz’s serious style would’ve given the film a unique existential terror.

I've never had a problem with these cardboard sleeves. So no, they cannot ABSOLUTELY scratch discs. It may be pilot error more than anything else. I've been dealing with physical media for 41 years and I know and thing or two about this stuff.

Agreed. They are garbage. I’ve gone through the same issue and will never deal with sleeve packaging again.

Again, that is probably pilot error.

No, it would've just sucked. Fox was the absolute right choice.

Definitely not after a few days. I think it was around a month. I think I saw Zemeckis doing a recent interview where he said it was one of the hardest decisions he ever had to make but it needed to happen.

Well if you ask Thomas Wilson he'll tell you that Stoltz didn't really go out of his way to get along with the cast and crew, due to his "method acting" or whatever. It was the right call for the film and I think even Stoltz admitted as much.

I like the 'VHS' style packaging on the UK Blu ray release - they could have been more creative.

On paper, this looks like a great release. Apart from the series needing a new transfer for a number of years now, fans have always been pretty well served on home video - especially the DVD/ Blu-ray era. Looking at the features list, this looks like a pretty definitive collection of all the previous materials. Perhaps the only thing potentially missing is the U-Control BD features and theatrical teaser trailers?

I'd argue part of the experience IS the cover art and packaging. That's your intro to the movie. You still have to look at it's ugly face when you open the case and sit the disc in the tray reminding you how much you paid for a cheapo looking release from a major studio.
Maybe Nissen would do an update on his retro VHS covers for the 4K discs?

The original VHS releases certainly sold well back in the day — all of them used the theatrical poster art.

We need a Doc, Marty and the Deleorean now more than ever to create an alternate 2020.

I'll be quintuple dipping for the steelbook edition.

Are all 3 movies getting remastered or is it just the first?

I'll hold off on reviews before I get this.
I want/need to make sure there are no edge enhancement force fields or other crap done to the picture.
I also want just a stard release, as I'll be putting the 4k disks in the DigiBook I already have that includes the Animated series.

It surely is not fascinating if the footage resulted in Stoltz losing his job and the crew going with the original choice for the role. If Zemeckis didn’t like the footage (and really, his word on it is all we should trust), then why should it be seen? Besides, I’m sure that 3-5 minutes into it, many people would turn it off when they compare Stoltz’ performance to Michael’s.

Universal has had a very nice track record when it comes to their UHD releases. No need to be cautious here.

All three. The new transfers are currently streaming on Netflix.
