Well, put it this way. We would of had a virtual free pass to final as the semi final tie was against Sheff United. Meaning an historic double cup final appearance AND a guaranteed European slot. What happens next? Our manager decides to play a virtual reserve team against Hull which basically ended our hopes of a trophy and killed the feel good factor at the club. To say I was angry would be an understatement. Me and many thousands of fans who feel betrayed IMO

Wow, I didn’t know. That is pretty upsetting. Now you’ve gotten me worried as I still haven’t watched the Arsenal quarter final and I hope Arsene didn’t save his best players for this week’s Champions League match.

Even if you aren’t a big resolution freak, 4K tvs will eventually drive the offering of other visual improvements/features like adding increased bit depth to consumer displays.

What some creative 21-year olds accomplish in 4K - http://www.hdvideopro.com/blog/edito...eam-in-4k.html

Although, please nobody ask me to comment on the phrase “a visually lossless 4K stream at an average of 6Mb/s”

Gotta say, if they had said 14-15Mb/s, I could of accepted the idea of a great compression scheme at work but 6, just like Red was also saying, I'd really like to hear the science involved in that.

He went in with pretty much the same idea as most if not all of us, half-baked, no content. But on one particular set (can't remember) he mentioned how good the scaling and processing of the set was, he likened it to the first Oppo upscaling DVD players. We all remember how awesome our DVDs started to look on our HD sets, and it was just awesome upscaling at work. He basically told me, for him it's the same. No real 4K but upscaled BD was phenomenal in his opinion (an opinion I can't refute or support as I haven't even really looked at a 4K yet).

Several years ago I had a pioneer DVD player and it scaled to HD beautifully. I honestly believe that a lot of people who were unconvinced about the benefits of bluray and HD in general were watching on a 200 pound budget 32 screen with washed up blacks and horrific artefacts. As a rule the mainstream are idiots IMO.

I figured we were doomed going into the remainder of Champions League play. Anyway, on to Wembley.

Go down the hall on the left and enter the door with the sign that says “Marketing”.

Otherwise…..follow me and scroll down and compare the textures in the pdf simulations on page 36 (uncompressed) to page 38 (HEVC @ 6 Mbit/s) – https://tech.ebu.ch/docs/events/webi...dHD_update.pdf

Follow me thru the cornea, the aqueous humor, the lens and vitreous humor at least to the back of the eyeball.

Some of the science behind the ‘immersive effect’ experienced at the closer screen-to-eye distance by the author of that techradar 4K article is due to the presentation of imagery upon a larger portion of his retina (not just the foveola) but the fovea, the parafoveal field, the perifoveal field and even retina peripheral to that…..

He's not wrong. The scaling in my Sony 4K set is superb. (As well it should be, because us Britishers have no commercial 4K content as of yet.)

Any chance of some reviews once you do get that native content Geoff? Would love to hear your opinion on quality.

Chance'd be a fine thing! I'm not going in for Netflix's 4K option (TV won't support it so I'd need some sort of HEVC compatible streaming box device thingy which isn't even out yet anyway) so I'm hedging my bets on 4K Blu-ray, seeing as Sony's 4K download service seems to be dead in the water outside of the US.

But don't you worry about reviews, when I get my grubby little mitts on proper 4K goodness I'll be shouting it from the rooftops.

Speaking of which, I laughed like a drain when Samsung announced that their 4K content system (basically some movies on a portable HDD that you plug into the TV, but it's only compatible with Samsung sets) would include films like The Wolverine, World War Z, The Counselor and GI Joe Retaliation, because each and every one was finished at 2K...
