In the meantime, as I figure nowhere else on the internet is filmmaking information like this - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...d#post10107534

readily available, hackers need not concern themselves with hacking into my email account and revealing all my correspondences with filmmakers, as the info is already public knowledge to Blu-ray.com members....as well as my recent surgical hx. as noted above.

Later.
See ya'll on the blood thinner side and hopefully stroke free.
Get better, Penton.

It's good to see a few more 4K movies on there from studios other than Sony (Annie's in 4K, natch). Night at the Museum 3 (Fox) and Unbroken (Universal) are both 4K, but check out that DCP file size for Unbroken: a mere 93GB! To think that people are still bricking it that 4K BD won't be able to manage with 66GB/100GB discs and HEVC compression...

Poked, punctured, bruised, sore and still terribly drugged up but home in time for Christmas. BIG Thanks for all the well wishes from Geoff D, singhcr, PeterTHX, Blu-Dog, reanimator, Richard Paul, saprano and my guardian angels in heaven, your thoughtfulness will not go forgotten.

I’m alive, kicking and ‘officially’ not aphasic secondary to the throwing any clot during the heart procedure. To discern whether the later (no aphasia) is truly correct, I’ll verbalize all the words as I’m typing them out in the next few posts I make today.

Here goes….

Sweetness galore . To give you an idea, early this morning for the first time during the incarceration, there was a *magical* hospital gown levitation,

i.e. I produced a *tent* with my hospital gown (using no hands) and while somewhat embarrassingly grinning to my favorite while she was examining the wound for gaining access to my heart for any bleeding, infection, etc., she responded with a beautiful smile, saying “keep the snake in the cage please”….I think by then she knew I was feeling well enough to be discharged....and now I wonder how they write/term that sort of thing in the Nursing Notes.

Must say, the nursing staff (RN’s) on xNorth was the most competent, patient and caring I’ve ever had. It really helped make the whole ordeal tolerable. Thanks to all the girls.

P.S.
A tip of the hat to the male nurses too for rolling me and gently helping me out of bed. Good job guys. Well done

Excellent ‘official’ source, but hardly infallible nor comprehensive, for example, unless I skimmed it too quickly, you’ll notice it does not include On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter as discussed with Kris Deering in spec image detail on the last pages (I forgot to mention to folks the motorcycle movie received one of dem fancy Dolby Atmos mixes too) nor does the Deluxe listing normally include other smaller productions from the likes of the Weinstein Company, Relativity Media, Magnolia Pictures, etc. or film festivals like TIFF.

Plus, ‘seeing’ doesn’t give him the ability to talk the talk or walk the walk. For that, one needs educating, e.g. with Interstellar…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...se#post9956015

One problem is the absolute maximum allowed data rate for the JPEG 2000 images in a DCP for DCI compliance is 500 Mb/sec, source

I did give a heads-up to Seattle folks last May as to a non-DCP 4K 3D @ 120 fps presentation (which ran at > 900 Mb/sec) …. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ma#post9147646

Even if Douglas Trumbull’s solution to immersive filmmaking doesn’t gain traction, it is possible that the 500 Mb/sec data rate will be revised upward someday for the sake of 4K HDR, as at least one member of the AMPAS' Science and Technology Council is asking/lobbying for the upgrade.

And, b.t.w., among other things, this interview illustrates the proper way to pronounce “temporal”, by those in the know…..

^ Reminds me, someday when I get more energy and having a bowel movement isn’t the greatest challenge of my day back from hospital, I’ll try to search for a YouTube or vimeo video from the likes of CIC (http://www.imaging.org/ist/conferences/cic/) presentations that illustrates the proper way to pronounce metamerism for the sake of celebrity video gurus and their listeners.

I'm not going to try to pronounce that. I don't want my tongue looking like my shoelaces, for crying out loud.

You know how to pronounce it, be honest and tell us if you can do it with both eyes pointing in the same direction.

Does digital use less data than film? The files sizes are kinda small. The biggest i've seen is what, 300GB?

As for 4KBD, the more space it has and less compression the better. I don't care how good a compression algorithm is. That's how i feel about anything carrying alot of data actually.

The resulting file size of the DCP has absolutely nothing to do with what the movie was shot on, because with today's digital post-production it all ends up being worked on in the same technological environment once it's ingested into the system, edited/colour corrected etc and then compressed for the DCP. Only a few holdouts like Nolan and Tarantino are able to shoot and edit on film, so everyone else who championed the cause of film has to dance to the studios' tune, and after the initial in-camera acquisition their movies are as 'digital' as anyone else's.

Heck, even the 4K DCP of Interstellar (which was fine-tuned to look as close to the prints as possible and looked mighty fine to me) clocked in at 226GB which is a fair bit smaller than other 4K DCPs of a similar length, including Nolan's own Dark Knight Rises which was 302GB.

Are you referring to this? http://digitalcinema.bydeluxe.com/site/dlxportal/docs/Interstellar_2D_OV_5.1_10-28-14_DCDC.pdf
Are you sure this is the 4K version? Because it states a resolution of only 2048x858, which is not 4K.
