He lost me after The New World.

He now reminds me of Uwe Boll, because I wonder who keeps wanting to put this over the top crap out.

But you are right, to each their own.

So ray0414, I’m wondering what you think of the Ultra HD Blu-ray of Passengers.

Posted my thoughts in the dedicated thread.

But in summary, I liked it alot. Picture looked phenomenonal on my ks9800 and the movie was good. Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning in native 4k. Movie itself was good. Right up my ally.

I'd assume this is the first of the Bond 4K transfers that have been available via Hulu. I know it's not fair to compare 4K digital streaming to 4K UHD disc, but I have to say that 90% of the movie looks fantastic, but digitally anomalies pop up here in there: digital moire pops up in Lucia Sciarra's dress, banding appears in the dark night time sky near the end of the movie, and there is some ugly bizarre digital flaws during the scene where Bond meets up with Mr. White. However when it looks right - the sharpness is amazing and really reflects the effort from the transfer team in getting the 4K DI master that Sony hideously downrezzed to 2K for it's theatrical DCP's and bluray

Disney released a public DCP, which is a rare thing.

Beauty and the Beast (2017) 2K DCP.

where are you getting your info regarding Disney and their DCP's? - they seem notoriously secretive in imparting info online.

I believe he is referring to the Deluxe site. It seems that Beauty and the Beast is the first time Disney has allowed their projection letter to be shown online publicly.

Watch your back Geoff, next thing you know they’ll be stocking the shelves….

Although, afaik, robots can’t demo new devices with the same flair and style as humans. Showing by reps today and tomorrow in San Diego at AAOS is https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-HVO4000MT/

A retrospective -

“When we meet in a London hotel, the 62 year-old grey-haired Lee looks rather dejected; “The movie was hardly seen in the States,” he sighs. “The studio didn’t do much to promote [it].” ……http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-en...-a7568796.html

From the Dallas Observer - a post mortem report on the 1-day showing in Dallas….http://www.dallasobserver.com/arts/d...wizard-8932742
"A Dallas theater showed Ben Fountain/Ang Lee’s new film in a very cool way. But then, it vanished."

I’d say some liked it and some didn’t. Except for the most open minded, or perhaps the next generation?, HFR has a hard row to hoe with cinematic content given general audiences having been preconditioned their whole lives to like or associate the 24fps look with theatrical motion pictures. Also, probably best not to think of HFR look equivalency with ‘Hobbit’ and ‘Billy’ because despite The Hobbit trilogy and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk both being ‘HFR’, 4K 120fps with a synthetic shutter post looks different (more immersive) if you saw the native format presentations in N.Y. or L.A. than does the 48fps/270 degree shutter angle combination that Peter J. utilized for his productions.
