Thought it would be a minor uptick in quality and color, decided to still check it out in that format, and still came way pleasantly surprised by the colors and image sharpness.

Anyone knows if Kingsman: The Golden Circle utilize a 4K DI?
Sony 4K Cinema listed it having a 4K DCP, but seems 2K all across the theaters... and deluxe listed it as 2K. Is Sony making a mistake?

Any word on Dolby Cinema version?

According to Pieter V, yes this has 4K DI. (from the 4K or Higher Masters thread)

I have no idea, why Sony says it's a 4K DCP. I am also beginning to doubt it's will be 2K for now. Because I just got word the Dolby Cinema DCP is 2K as well....

Blade Runner: The Final Cut is being shown at a Dolby Cinema near me on October 4th! It will be my first time seeing it on the big screen.

Logan Lucky looks really videoey, the Red Dragon always looks more like digital than the Alexa does. It looks great between the right hands on certain projects, but the Alexa, although it looks nothing like film, looks closer to it. I doubt Nolan would be impressed to be fair.

65mm 15 perf, despite being very clean, never once feels like you're looking at something shot digitally.

Watched it last night at Dolby Cinema. Wasn't impressed with the video. It was fine, but the CG had issues and the overall quality was hit or miss too often. And while I enjoyed the first one, this one was long and tedious with humor that just did not get me. Blah.

Soderburgh's not noted for his allegiance to film or even making digital stuff look more film-like though. It was mentioned in one thread or another that he deliberately chose such a candy-coloured oversaturation for LL after becoming fascinated with what the colour looked like when they improperly converted the wider gamut to a smaller space.

When I saw it at Dolby Cinema it didn't look videoey at all to me, and I am usually pretty sensitive to movies that look more like polished video than film.

I'm glad Soderbergh doesn't try to make his stuff look like film. I could be biased, because I do own a RED. I think if you want your film to look like film, shoot film. I also prefer grain, I greatly prefer super 16 over 35mm. 70mm is my favorite film format.

Will there be a remaster and 4K UHD release of Lord of the Rings. I had always hope for a 3D conversion but considering the active conspiracy to murder 3D that is taking place I don’t think there is a chance that will ever happen.

There has never been a premium Steelbook release for this set either... Only the overly expensive Middle Earth set that contained only
Blu-ray Discs.

I find that puzzling because I think it would sell well!

Give it time. I'm sure it will happen. Theatrical first, probably. They will milk this franchise for everything.

Dude, if Van Helsing turned out alright then LOTR sure as shit will. Certain CG bits and pieces looked janky before and they will look janky again (call it 'The Scorpion King Effect') but that wonderful mix of miniatures and CG should look terrific and I'm drooling at the thought of a good HDR grade. Well, as long as it doesn't end up looking like King Kong on UHD that is i.e. when it's good it's VERY good but there are some odd colour choices for sure and it looks very uneven due to the early DI. As I say that, the baked in noise reduction during certain scenes in Two Towers suddenly springs to mind and now I'm not so confident. Damn.

Having a moment of introspection, son? If only you could have seen the things I've seen. Now, please focus your attention on this device in my hand...
