Which of the above statements is probably false? Could it be all of the above?

Maybe a better title for the article is “Where is HDR10+?”
Wow, how bizarre.

For an article written less than a week ago, it contained absolutely no information that would differentiate itself from an article written a YEAR ago.

Samsung (or studios, or hell, anyone?) really needs to start showing some proof of life regarding HDR10+ because wow the situation just looks BAD...

The mainstream authoring tools were finalized for HDR10+ on UHD Blu-ray just a couple of months ago: http://www.tmcnet.com//usubmit/2018/04/04/8729281.htm

.So we will probably not see HDR10+ discs in the marketplace until Fall 2018.

That's funny. HDR 10+ discs were right around the corner!! according to so many folks back in Nov. '17.

But yeah I'm sure HDR10+ discs are coming real soon. Until then i guess I will just have to settle for things like Annhilation in 4K HDR with Dolby Vision.

^ Fair speculation, but I think alexander’s point and mrtickleus’s gripe is that the mastering tools for delivering streaming HDR10+ content have been available well before 1-14-2018, one workflow as detailed in a step-by-step fashion back then….
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=3962

So, they’re wondering really wuz-up with Amazon not documenting on their titles with a banner/badge the previous pro HDR10+ assertions……https://news.samsung.com/global/sams...-hdr10-content , not to mention the fact that a HUGE amount of effort in the entertainment business is related to marketing (just check twitter, facebook, AV reporters and their respective websites, etc.) so especially mrtickle would think by now there would be at least one measly HDR10+ video clip labeled as such being available to the public to view.

I’ll say one thing, on one of the pro websites the President of the UHD Alliance (https://alliance.experienceuhd.com/) has gone on public record as endorsing that HDD article linked by StayingSalty as “good” which I think demonstrates the disconnect between some in the industry and the feelings of experienced audio video consumers like tickle and alexander.

For World Cup fans, the production workflow explained….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4n6...vLY5o#t=1h4m9s

Of course, as I explained to folks on the last page, the USA did’nt qualify . The reasons? well, don’t blame Jurgen (https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/05/16...orld-cup-usmnt) nor Bruce (https://www.amazon.com/Coaching-Amer.../dp/0062803948 who, for a time coached inland from the Chesapeake Bay ) as I do not believe the fault lays with the National team coaches….they work with what they’ve got.

Wow, I'm surprised to see the big advantage of VRR! I'll test this in our showroom and compare it to all of our 2018 flagship TVs on our TV Shootout wall.

Very impressive feature for gamers!

Thankyou, yes. Just one! So that people such as Vincent Teoh can put two side by side and exposit the differences, if any, on a high-nit display. So that people like us can download them and try them. So that it's a transparent and open thing, I know that's radical but hey.

Indeed. It's ludicrous! From the article:

There is no excuse for STILL doing this, Amazon. Just STOP using a bloody universal "HDR" badge. It's not good enough.

a) Steven, you had them but completely let them off the hook. Why? You're supposed to be a journalist, not someone who genuflects whenever a company tells you something.
b) PLease name the person in Amazon who made this claim, that you took at face value with no evidence, and without asking for a justification for the HDR10+ logo not appearing as it is supposed to.
c) What is their timeframe for making it less shit, and displaying the actual HDR standard being used in all cases in the playback bar?
d) Can't think of any other way of saying this - but I have zero reasons to believe Amazon on this issue, and many reasons to doubt them, so I call this a lie. They are lying, and they are NOT streaming HDR10+ to anyone. Their collusion with Samsung and the fact that it's an internal app (so the normal "signal info" banners that HDMI inputs have aren't available) means that it's impossible for the viewer to verify this either way.

Well for all we know Amazon may not be lying, and they may actually have HDR10+ content on their servers.

But we have no idea if it's actually working because there's no differentiating logo on either the streaming end (there is with DV content on amazon) or even on the TV itself (like there is with dolby vision on LG/Sony).

So it could be broken and not only would no one would know, but they wouldn't even know where along the chain it's broken.

I've checked out some of the older Amazon HDR content that is supposed to have HDR10+ and I couldn't tell a lick of difference compared to using the streaming app and a regular HDR10 app on an external device. So i'd be shocked to hear that is is actually working.

Which is bizarre, considering the HDD article is essentially a fluff piece with the same marketing vomit that's been played on repeat since basically CES *2017*.

You can only recycle something so many times until it's not reusable anymore... I can't help but refuse to believe HDR10+ is anything but vaporware/shovelware (at best) used as a threatening bargaining chip by the powers that be to make a deal with Dolby for discounted DV licensing costs.

At this rate, by the time HDR10+ actually comes out, it seems like even bottom tier televisions will be 4,000 nit 100% P3 with no need for tone mapping anyways.
