Also unfortunately your Onkyo is a rebadged Pioneer. The quality went way down after the companies merged. Quote:
Just like the folks complaining about the 4K HDR picture of Goodfellas. Chances are they have a shit TV. |

2nd bumping up the volume doesnt suddenly add dynamics and bass. Theirs countless reviewers with 25K worth of equipment that all compain about "Atmouse" 3rd No one should need to have a $3000 receiver and $2000 pre-amp, to be able to get decent sound. No excuse for other streaming services to have better audio quality. Its Disney problem end of story |

I have a 13.3 channel Atmos processor, Triad Gold speakers, Buckeye Purifi D-Class and ATI AB-Class amps, Monolith 15 inch THX subs, Oppo and Panasonic 4k players, a JVC 4k HDR projector... and a pretty good idea that Disney, for the most part, is gimping their soundtracks and often screwing up their HDR grades (especially Pirates and Heat). It's never been about just raising your volume or people with MUCH more sophisticated Storm Audio or Trinnov Altitude systems wouldn't be complaining about Disney soundtracks either. They are. |

[quote=jeff BD;21059443]1st of all the RZ-50 is consistently highly rated and is a better unit than most denon and marantz in the same price range to many.

And seeing as levels do matter it's a pretty big deal. 6dB requires 4 times the power. Remember those proclaiming DTS "better" when it ended up being 3-6dB above DD levels? They also claimed "better dynamics and more bass". When DD was actually level matched those claimed disappeared. Quote:

Most people "set and forget" and think one volume level serves all. It doesn't.

No ones asking for "audiophile grade" we're asking for netflix level atmos at least. At minimum. If youre doing contracting work for Disney just say so |

DTS is famous for their delays. A big reason they weren't seriously considered for the HDTV sound standard and not a mandatory format for DVD.
DTS-MA was on Blu-ray for over a year before anything could decode it. DTS:X via DTS-HR didn't work for a while either. |

Not sure if anyone cares, but I thought I'd resurrect this thread just like Disney is resurrecting the format. May 15.
