Well, for one thing, let me say that the Fox has always been true Blu, no question, so don’t let any naysayer on other parts of the internet try to dissuade you otherwise.

Secondly, I expect the Fox to at least poke his head out and say a little something, maybe just “Hi, all” , maybe more?................ sometime between now and IFA in Berlin, if all goes according to schedule.

That’s all I’m permitted to say. Please no PM’s.
Penton,

Thanks. I don't think anyone in their right mind doubts Fox is "with BD". It's just annoying not to have any new titles from them.

Let hope Fox does at lot of "poking" at some point before Sept 5.

One could read that many ways, and your interpretation is valid. You, you're good...No, YOU!!! You're good.

Question

Paidgeek,

Is the Australian Version of Spiderman Trilogy (Region B) going to have the same audio tracks as the US versions? Also are they region free, or will only 1&2 be region free.

I ask about the audio tracks as there seems to be a disturbing trend witht he Australian versions of some Blu-ray movies, in that we get short changed big time. Out latest example is Rocky Balboa which doesnt come with a PCM track, but a DTS 1.5 mbps instead !!!! Can you believe that.

I'm glad I bought an imprted PS3 and import 95% of my titles.

Is there a reason why they do things like this?

thanks and keep up the good work

Paidgeek,

I would like to ask you once more, I am sorry for that, and I will be happy with your answare....

I just found final specs for UK release of SPIDERMAN 1&2

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=65600

English Dolby True HD 5.1 Surround
English Audio Description Track 5.1
Czech, Hungarian and Russian DD5.1 Surround
Subtitles: English, English HOH, Arabic, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Slovene, Swedish, Turkish

Spider-Man 2 - Also includes Spider-Man 2.1 which features 8 minutes of additional footage.
1080P 2.40:1 Widescreen

English Audio Description Track 2.0
Czech and Polish (VO) DD5.1 Surround
Subtitles: English, English HOH, Arabic, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Icelandic, Polish, Romanian, Slovene, Turkish
last time I asked if audio and video specs will be same, your answare was that yes they will be, but with more other languages....

I would like to ask you only two questions

1. DolbyTrueHD will be same as US release 24bit ?
2. PCM is not on UK releases ? correct ?

(I am not missing PCM if I will get DolbyTrueHD withou dial. norm.)

Thank you again,
Marek

That goes a way back in history.
Old rangers will know what I mean.

P.S.
B.T.W. the cute oinks are neither of the two individuals that you referred to above.
The pigs are tru Blu.

Sorry, I am way behind on responses right now.

I looked at "Crank" today and thought it looked good. It has a different 'look' than "The Company". It seems to be very well shot, but it is edgy with exaggerated contrast. I'm sure this was the directors intention. My honest, biased opinion is that "The Company" will be better title to impress your friends when you teach them what HD is supposed to look like.

One thing that's been bugging me for the past couple of weeks is the lack of PAL playback support in the PS3 (for DVD video, not sure if this is even an issue for BD). I have a number of PAL discs that I can only play on a normal set top DVD player, but the PS3 has replaced that set top DVD player for 99% of my viewing, and I'd like to retire the thing if I can.

Soooo, can you nag someone at Sony to enable PAL playback support in the PS3 in a future firmware update? =)

Thanks.
You can by a player from Europe and have PAL support, but I would not expect to get this from a North American player.

Sony is releasing a special anniversary edition of Labyrinth on DVD August 14th. Is a version of this film likely to come to Blu-ray soon?

Would definitely buy it once it is on Blu! (already have an older edition)

Thanks,

Josh
I have not seen this on the schedule.

Paid, how about establishing a partnership between Sony and Apple, since their Quicktime section is already an established area to get hi-def movie trailers?

It would probably cost much less than creating a movie showcase channel within the various PSN, and you could easily flag the titles that are coming to Blu-ray with their release dates in their specific countries.

I will pass the PS3 suggestions along where and when I get an opportunity...

However, there have been a lot of games I would have been willing to buy if they displayed at 1080i.

Just a thought.

I understand the frustration, but there are technical reasons (framer rate and bandwidth) why some developers choose to author 720p. You can't just to a 1080i conversion without creating all sort of artifacts.

That's great news. Crank seems to be regarded as one of the top titles in the PQ department and raising the bar further is quite an accomplishment.

Thanks for taking time to do a comparison, I will certainly be watching for this release.
